Consciousness:

1. Another word for the body.

2. A comforting notion for those who fear death.

3. A dead end for researchers and scientists.

Consciousness or the self, your (soul) it is the User if you will...your brain is the computer with its own built in memory your body the vehicle to carry out the tasks the User or consciousness wills...

the computer is needed to moderate the functions of the vehicle and enable your conscience to grow and learn to experience if you will...

now your sub conscious is soft ware which the user or your conscience has uploaded into the computer and can be full of glitches or a seamless install... So the Consciousness should take great care on the software it chooses to install...

I have succeeded in confusing myself even, but there is truth to what I stated...

Yes, there is truth to what you stated.

The brain interacts with the environment while consciousness is aware and operates the material brain.

It's like a computer or a DVD player. You can tell what parts of the brain light up when consciousness activates it but there's no material explanation on how this occurs.

Materialism can't explain how we can simply recall a specific memory. How does the material brain know which memory you wish to recall? If I want to recall my 9th grade graduation, how does the material brain know that the material brain wants the material brain to recall this memory? How does the material brain know the difference between my 9th grade graduation or the first time I went swimming?

The brain needs and operator or as you say user that's external to the material brain that operates the information that the material brain processes.

For instance, I can tell you what parts of my DVD player lights up when I push play or open/close, but you have to have a user that's external to the DVD player to choose to watch Wedding Crashers or Avatar. This is true with the material brain. There has to be an external operator that isn't bound by space or time that can navigate and activate information that the material brain processes.

Like I said earlier, it's consciousness that gives us a perception of what we call "reality." It actually goes back to Einstein when he asked is the moon there when nobody is looking at it. At this point, we can say the moon is there and everywhere else but we just can't perceive the blurriness and this gives us the "reality" we perceive.

Consciousness is this.

This is always this but this constantly appears different.

I define consciousness as all that is. What truly exists outside of the perception of consciousness? Nothing, because those things that seem to be "outside" of it are only an extension of consciousness. You are what you see, you are the universe experiencing itself. We all came from the universe and to the universe we will all return.

But if we are the universe, how could we have come from it? And how can we return to something which we never came from?

Saying something is "all that is" is no different than saying it is nothing.

We are not the universe experiencing itself, by the simple fact you do not know what it is like to be an elephant, a stone or anything else in the universe besides yourself.

We are not what we see, for the simple fact that in order to see something, it must first be there to see, or in other words, it must first be outside of consciousness before it can be inside our consciousness, or else we'd have nothing to lay our eyes on.

Agreed. Some people say that everything is energy, which is the same to say that everything is everything. However, I think that it's problematic so say that something is "in" or "out" of consciousness. I understand that this is just a figure of speech, but I believe that if you use a figure of speech a lot, it will to transform into something that you take at face value. For example, this applies to the word (the noun) "Universe". People talk about the universe like it's a thing, but since "The Universe" implies EVERYTHING it can't possibly be a "thing" itself. In the same sense, consciousness is not a place or some sort of "sphere" to which sight, touch, taste, hearing and smell are connected.

You got it!

for some reason I have memories from a very young age even before I could talk, the funny thing is even though I couldn't talk I understood a whole lot of things that were being said to me as well as conversations around me...

I also remember knowing I wanted to answer knew what I wanted to say but could not physically manage it...

it is also proof enough to me that we are souls, and I should know because that's what I am...

conscious is also known as logical thought. Subliminal information is information received below the liminal line(separates con/subconscious) that the conscious is unaware of. Conscious is the mind, subconscious is the body, while psyche is the heart. Father(conscious, mind) the Son(subconscious,Body) and holy spirit(psyche, heart). Being Conscious of something is to be aware of it. People are unaware of subliminal info due to them not being conscious of it. Being aware of what your unaware of is being conscious of things in the subconscious that you were not consciously aware of being there! Repressed memories are subliminal memories attached to memories the conscious wants. Like memories of child abuse being attached to a memory not associated with the abuse. Subconscious protection the conscious is unaware of!

So why am I made up of things that came from the universe? My body came from Earth through the process of evolution didn't it? Everything that makes up my being is part of the universe and will return to it once I die. Yes, I am the universe experiencing itself and so are you.

We'll just have to agree to disagree les.

Consciousness is spirit and ultimately essentially life and feeling

It is the divine nature!

It is to see and feel

What is there to see?
The soul

What is there to feel?
The self

The soul is essentially God

The self is essentially the inner natures that commune with God (soul)

All that exists is the soul and these natures and the unbound spirit

To me it is simply what allows us to perceive our environment, I do not see that consciousness defines existence, so we can still exist even when unconscious in my mind. Definitely, I do exist, and even if I die I still would have existed and if we take time as being of an all-encompassing thing, then all times future and past are apart of the same fabric, and since I exist or have existed then there is a place in existence where I have been etched out.
