I can resonate with the OP.

AS technology and knowledge increase more and more of these people will have a place to shelter or live and hopefully be working. Some of them might never see the streets thanks to just making it.

Ya CARING helps, but sometimes there're things we can't do.

Shelter + work + healthcare + case workers. All important things.

And what of insane people who get kicked out of shelters because of behavior connected with having hallucinations or being paranoid of other people or things? They're not abusing the system... Some of them refuse to take medications and would be better off institutionalized for a while.

Why would a society spend so much more money on a crazy person unless that crazy person was a threat to other people?
