Food Riots in America

I predict food riots will begin occurring over the next 2 years. 15% of the American population is receiving assistance from the SNAP program, i.e. food stamps. Currently, felons who have drug, violent, or sexual rap sheets are ineligible for food aid. Within the next month, all able-bodied adults without dependents will be required to work/volunteer/participate in a work-program for 20hrs a week in order to receive food stamps for more than three months in a three-year period: this will result in many ABAWD losing the ability to eat due to a lack of jobs, forcing them into unpaid volunteer positions. Work programs have had their funding cut and will not be able to support the demands and stress which they will be put under.

This need to do volunteer work will result in slower job growth; why will companies pay people when they can have volunteers? This will prevent the minimum wage from rising. 5 million new citizens (amnesty,) who are willing to work for lower-than-minimum wage will also be a major contributor. Job growth will be reversed, as companies begin firing/laying off workers in lieu of non-paid positions.

Race riots will be a minor concern in comparison.

I predict there will be "round the clock" flights
of fully seated to capacity
Boing 777's and C-17 Globemasters flying over
the Pacific Ocean and once reaching optimum
altitude, the cargo doors will open and discharge
all the bloodsuckers who currently leech
off the American taxpayers.

There will be no parachutes.

I find your remarks offensive and ignorant.
Hope you find yourself in a position where you require the help of others and be ostracised for it ... it is called Karma

Thing is, there are actually people like me who are disabled and can't work and need the help. We're not all blood sucking leeches that keep having babies to get more SS. Hell I paid into the system for 20+ years and a sudden diagnosis of stage 4 cancer took away the only means I had of providing for my family.

Hope the same never happens to you.

If you check this has to do with volunteering for local government work. Like picking up trash ect.

Don't think you would have to work for any private enterprise.

No offense, but disabled and low income are two very different issues. Would not a disabled person be exempt from the required work? Are you saying you will be denied food assistance subsidies because you are disabled? Because that would be an even greater crime.

If I qualified for food stamps and wasn't working full time, I would be happy to go work for the food stamps. Now someone who is working full time at minimum wage, yet can't make enough to pay their rent and support themselves, should not be told they have to work another twenty hours to qualify. Working for what you gain is not unreasonable sometimes, but sometimes it is hard. Just traveling to the place to work can cost money and decrease the value of the subsidy.

Most of the time both get lumped together in the same category on ATS.

No, I cant get food stamps because they told me my little thousand bucks a month is too much money to qualify.

Don't be silly. The American government couldn't organize a bake sale in a one month period. Maybe in 18 months they could decide who's going to sit on the committee to get this plan in action. Then of course it will be 2016 and election time again so any contingency plans will be scrapped because of a change in the guard.
Actually I just don't see this happening at all. Ever.

Well then, I guess we all should start stocking up then.
Also to note ATS has a great "Survival" forum. Lol..

A food shortage is always a crisis in the future.. However dont panic
if wheat, corn, and Soy becomes an issue.. you can certainly survive without that garbage. Learn to grow a garden, can your own fruits and veggies, or.. just start stocking up..

And there are retired people who can't make ends meet on social security. There could be any number of reasons someone needs this program. Wildmanimal made a drive by rude comment. I'm sorry to see how many people got offended by him. I wish you a speedy recovery and many more productive years.

Yeah, I was just being a wise guy.
The OP is probably right.

But I think the chances for food riots
are probably higher in other parts of the globe
right now.

But I do think Crime is on the rise in
America. Directly due to the lack of
opportunity.

Yeah , I do too.
But I wouldn't put it
past some of the folks behind closed doors.
They just are too politically correct
to mention it.

Maybe if Idiot Obama and Reid let the 30 plus bi partisaned jobs bills go to vote and pass, JOBS wouldn't be such an issue?

Obama and his crew have done nothing to help anyone except the big corporations and bulging governement jobs markets
