I was born on Christmas.

I am an atheist.

I have kids.

We enjoy happiness around the holidays.

We don't have lights up around the house, but we do enjoy going and looking at lights.

Whats it to ya?

I got a pair of bib/coveralls for $20 on sale friday. I really needed them because it is friggin cold outside. So take your consumerism crap elsewhere.

The things you enjoy, im sure some do not like.

So with that being said,,,,,,,HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

The boxwood bushes I planted are finally big enough for lights so I draped some green net lights on them today. It was easy and its looks very pretty. I am not religious anymore, but I do like pretty things and I think holiday decorations are very pretty- especially when they are glittery and sparkly. I can just hear people slowing down as they drive past my house to look at my lights.

Put the lights up, and I have to say I don't respect you. Sorry.

I am sure this has exactly 0% impact on anyone that enjoys decorating, for whatever reason, for the holidays.

It's okay though..enjoy thinking your opinion matters more then anyone else.

There is nothing as enchanting as riding around at night and seeing houses decorated and lit up. Not only for children, but for the child within.

We don't put lights outside, but do have some tiny lights around the plants inside and of course the tree.

What a big surprise. ATS thinks I'm wrong when I say the Christmas lights on your house thing is part of an empty culture that has everything to do with a controlling religion and the PTB manipulations to urge us to consume while we approach our extinction, somewhat before the extinction of numerous species dying as I type this. But they are not humans, and the lights look very pretty.

There are plenty of people who aren't religious who put lights up. Perhaps they enjoy celebrating the Season of love and giving and joy. Even if people are urged to consume, it doesn't mean they have to.

I remember when I was sick with cancer and very weak and tired and feeling crappy and seeing the lights no matter where they were brought a smile to my face and lightened up my rather dark and trying days.

We don't put up lights on our house, but do light up a tree; I use L.E.D. rope lights that run off our PV system. I don't need anyone's respect to do so -- I put them up out of a 20-year tradition, and in the footsteps of a longer one before that.

M'darlin' and me like them. They're purdy. No other motive beyond that. I completely understand others' choice to not do so. If it increased our power bill, we'd opt out also.

Agree with your disdain for the commercialism associated with the holidays; makes me want to retch seeing how various products are fed into our awareness via commercials and advertising and............ guilt. The two of us don't give each other presents for Christmas, but do some wee things for others. Perhaps that would be an acceptable expression of faith for those who feel it, and don't want to put up lights. Perhaps that would be an acceptable expression of compassion for everyone.

Big mistake. The non-human extinctions are happening now. The beginning of our extinction is just about to unfold.

Or maybe not?
