The trailer is legit. It's popping up on blogs and newsites right now.

My theory, and not an uncommon one, is that the Sith is Luke Skywalker.

luke was born in 19 bby.
on 0 bby he bought 3p0 and r2 at tosche station and started his training.
in 3 aby he started training with yoda on dagobah(sp)
in 4 aby he fought the battle of endor and took out vader
in 11 aby he founded the new jedi order but before that, between 4 aby and 11 aby, he had a temporary fall to the darkside.

i dont think the timeline fits

30 years after the fall of vader would be 34 aby

34 aby would be around the time of the swarm war

not exact though....

if it follows the stories, this movie should deal with the dark nest crisis
that was 35 aby

Off topic, but relevant, since this thread is going to attract people who love Star Wars...

If you have an Android device or access to Google Play - there is a game called "Star Wars: Force Collection" that is downright addicting and chock full of ooeeyy chewy Star Wars goodness. It's free but, like many games, has an option to spend money. Not necessary to do so though.

Now to spin this all ON topic - games ( including the one above ) in the coming months might offer sneak peeks into plot derivations or hints about the upcoming film.

Meh...could've been better.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to cartwheel gleefully across my living room.

I am quite intrigued where the story goes. Being a fan of the canon cum non canon, the empire teamed up with the republic before 30 ABY when the Yuuzhan Vong invaded, which is when this movie takes place.

Nevertheless-I'm still excited, this is an early Christmas present for fans. To hear the howl of a TIE* fighter always sends shivers up my spine.

*TIE is an acronym for Twin Ion Engine.

OK so I've watched the official trailer about 10 times now and I have goosebumps the size of small mountains hehe.

I have had a suspicion for a while now that J.J.'s comments that the movies do not follow the Extended Universe were a red herring - and having seen the trailer I am convinced it was, at least in part. The 3-prong lightsaber was definitely in the EU, and I remember an interview I saw with the delightful Karen Gillan (Amy Pond in Doctor Who) who, when getting ready for her role in Guardians of the Galaxy, had her head shaved and the red hair donated for a wig for the new Star Wars. In the EU, a character called "Mara Jade" had flaming red hair, or perhaps I'm reading far too much into it lol.

Anyhoo, still can't believe we have to wait an entire year to see it, I have no idea how I'll make it that long lol!

With Cumberbatch seemingly attached to the film... I wonder if we will have a scene where Luke or Han falls to his knees and screams:

KKKHHHHAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNN

See? Like I said ..
Cumberbact is possibly tied into the film..

ETA: He would make a bad a$$ Palpatine reboot..

I didn't read much of anything after Return of the Jedi (I read the first three Timothy Zahn books) but some of my more dedicated friends have told me things about the EU. Anywho it seems Mark Hamil, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are way too old now to play in anything that happened immediately after... I can only imagine it's going to have heavily involve the grown children.
