why the hell have we imported the very worst day of the American Calendar here? It's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. People scraping over TVs and other electrical goods in an orgy of consumerism. It's enough to make you sick
www.theguardian.com...

People climbing over people and pushing disabled people out of wheelchairs in an effort to bag a reduced item. It's the lowest humanity can sink to really. It's been heavily promoted in the papers as almost something to celebrate. £6000 a minute put on credit cards (probably funded by Wonga.com). It just makes you want to give up on humanity.

It really is a black day for humanity.

The way the media in the UK are covering this event, its almost as though they want someone to get trampled to death so they can get a "good" story out of it..

As to why its been imported-its a money making scheme by multinationals to demonstrate how easy it is to herd the masses in the direction they want to-IE to cram into stores on a given day and literally fight each other over who can give away their hard earned pennies to the overlords of consumerism.

But no I hear you say-we are "civilised"and "modern."
Are we really?

I think I would rather pick nuts and berries in the woods myself.

I never do Black Friday.

Sorry to hear that global corporatism has brought this crap to your shores.
All I can think to do is point my finger your way and say... 'Ha Ha!'

It's woeful.

It's enough that peeps over here wear baseball caps and show their skiddy kecks as they are unable to operate a belt.

But this just makes me want to hurl.

Yucky! How can any human being with dignity engage in such a neo barbaric ritual frenzy of consumerism?

I just do a Mary, Mary, quite contrary and don't buy anything today. There is nothing I want right now and nothing I need so the pennies are not being spent.

Consumerism is vile. It is what is destroying our world physically and socially. It makes a few rocket into the bliss of billionairedom and the rest with a hefty debt.

It's Christmas time. Get in debt as much as you can so you can spend the rest of the year paying back what you spent plus huge interest, convinced that you got a good deal because you bought it a bit cheaper in a sale. Usury in its most aggressive form.

Makes me ashamed to be human. You'll find me at the back of the crowd letting the old lady go before me, hah!

I wouldn't mind Black Friday if it came with the Thanksgiving holiday attached but as it is we just get the crap half of it , but it does prove the old adage stupid people do stupid things.
At least it gives me something on telly to laugh at , silly sheep.

every thanksgiving at about 3pm my wife and i like to ride by a few stores and get a good laugh out of the people out there standing in a line behind metal barricades freezing their asses off.

yesterday target had the most people out of the stores we rode by.

the first dude in line had him a nice lawn chair and was munching on nachos....

its a good time

Good consumers are a final product of deep conditioning that begins in early childhood.

All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

Britain gave The U.S. thanksgiving. They gave us Black Friday.
Not a fair swap.

I've only braved the stores on Black Friday twice - once here where we live and once in NYC at Times Square. I did it just to see what the draw was. It was crowded and germy and I couldn't find anything that I wanted to buy (all sold out). I always do my Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving. And I do a lot of it online. I won't go near the stores. It's just asking to catch the FLU or to have a fender bender in the parking lot ...
