Thank you for posting this so we all can get a listen. I've been involved with some EVP's info for quite a while and I'm always interested in hearing more. Thanks again - I hope others and the OP appreciate the time/trouble you went to post the sound byte.

As for the content I'm really going to have to give it a few more listens.

peace

Thanks for the link.
I will have to listen to that....

Would it then be true that the digital recorder itself could "add" artifacts and voices?

So. basically the "unedited" "unfiltered" version is the most accurate in terms of what I think I hear?

What it is and "what I think I hear" are not necessarily the same thing.
A Rorchach inkblot is an inkblot , but I think card II looks like two clowns playing pat-a-cake. What it is and what I think it is are not necessary the same, also true of sound.

That would be the upload to soundcloud. That is the original directly from the recorder to the computer.
Or, is it possible that just saving it to the computer can "corrupt" it also?

Soundcloud does transcode the audio you upload , which adds subtle digital artefacts. Such artefacts are accumulative ... youtube.com/watch?v=icruGcSsPp0 , aka generation loss.

EVP is noise generated by electronics (analog or digital) , misinterpreted as speech: aka Rorschach-audio. That EVP indistinguishable from that attributed to the supernatural can be readily created from any old sound recording should speak volumes.

Editing EVP is like erasing/emphasising parts of a Rorschach inkblot to fit your subjective perception of what that random pattern resembles : editors are tampering with the evidence.

Digital editing , e.g. in Audacity, can add digital-artifacts which sound like speech , [ see (or rather hear) this ... www.freesound.org... ]

EVP does not require a paranormal mechanism ... en.wikipedia.org... , in the same way UFOs are are not necessary ET.

The only thing I really did for "editing" the original source material was isolating the frequencies, normalising the overall volume and compression so the higher peaks don't destroy your ears. But yeah. your partially right about the artifacts. But they are so minor and wouldn't really effect the sonic foundation of the sound itself. Perhaps the compression could distort "changing" the overall tone of certain sounds. Which it kinda does, especially in the higher/lower frequency sounds of the clip I uploaded.

Also I was mainly trying to emphasise the mumble just to make it more audible. I didn't want to prove anything with it really.

If I took my field recorder and recorded complete silence in a room full of acoustic treatment for example, there would still be loads of noise in that recording. So if I just took that noise. Compressed the # out of it (changing the overall dynamics between loudest and the most inaudible part) it could easily sound like a typical EVP.

But what OP posted clearly has something else audible that is not artifacts made by the encoding of SoundCloud.

Anyway. Still if anyone is looking study this for real I suggest listening to OP's links, or have him send the original file to you.

Thank you so much!

THAT certainly adds to the "hearability" of the recording, I think.

I am not sure what was captured and when I posted I truly wanted some explanations. Whether one believes it to be an EVP or not I don't think there is any denying that there are voices.
I don't know if it is possible to pick up a TV signal or radio. The houses are about 30-40 feet apart and the road is about 40 freet away. There is a lake that takes up the back.

I had to leave it alone last night for personal obligations, but I also wanted to take a break for myself to clear my head so to speak.

Thanks again!

That is amazing. The "monsters of the abyss" does sound remarkably like the recording I have. The only difference would be IMO is that THEY intentionally made that recording. My husband DID intentionally make the recording, but what is heard (or not heard by some) was NOT intentional.
Meaning, there was no manipulation. There were no TVs, heat/air units running. It was in the back bedroom of a house empty of people and pets.

THAT is what is concerning. I hear someone needing help or suffering in some way and I feel THAT along with the oddities that have been occurring is something that we need to pay attention to and help if possible.
Whether it is a trick of the mind (in which case us and the paranormal researcher need professional help) or something paranormal/spiritual it feels as if something isn't quite right and I think we should address it. However, it is imagined then I would think we could just put the recorder in a drawer, never listen to it again, and the strange goings on would stop? In theory that would seem logical. To me.

Thank you so much for your input... I DO want differing opinions and thoughts. THAT is how I can come to the truth!

Yeah. But even without my editing you could here it. It's just more easier on the ears for longer listening session. I didn't manage to get the whole 11 minutes of it though... I was recording it from your SoundCloud using Quicktime thats why.

This is cool. Based from what you described about it. I want an explanation!

UPDATE: I've just reviewed soundcloud.com/tnmockingbird/evp-2 on Audacity ...

There is a phrase sounds like "feel the pain" repeated between 2:30 and 3:00 min,
endogenous EVP doesn't repeat itself , it has to be exogenous, e.g. loud music from the car-stereo of a passing boy-racer ...
google.com/search?q="feel+the+pain"+lyric

When we listen it sounds like "Help, can't save me" or "Can't help it"

I don't hear "feel the pain", but it is subject to one's own perception/interpretation.

I will keep listening and google song lyrics and see if I too can trace it to that.

Thanks for input!

Me too! (Want an explanation)

An explanation won't be so easy to come by though I'm afraid. Even if, as the other poster suggested, some of the recording was captured from a passing car, that wouldn't explain the rest.

I live on a cul-de-sac with people all about my age who work everyday. Just meaning that there isn't a lot of "passers through" the area. There is a lake behind me that is every bit of 200 or more yards across so, this would be the only street for traffic nearby.

Thanks for your input and tryoing to solve the mystery!

Could you make the file downloadable? There should be a editbutton right below the track.

I think that I have made it downloadable.

I wish there was a way to put it directly on this site from the recorder without having to go through Soundcloud or anything else!

Hi there thanks for your post and recorsing,

Just a question, are you able to upload the original file that has not gone through any type of software to dropbox?

Audacity is a free Awesomeee product but it lacks proper processing methods and makes audio horrendous for such editing tasks.
Thanks again

I uploaded the original to soundcloud. The long recording has not been edited at all.

I am not sure where else I could upload it to.

I am not familiar with dropbox...

If you look for my screen name on soundcloud it should be easy to find.

Thanks for your inquiry! Maybe you will have some different thoughts or ideas as well.

It's ok! I didn't realise you uploaded them in wav so it should be fine!

I may have found something that sounds like a women's voice, and if presuming what I've found is not a digital artifact then who ever is talking in this recording loves you. Will post asap after I've done a little more editing

THAT would be fantastic!

The researcher I contacted wants to visit after the Holiday...

I would be hoping if it IS something paranormal, they are "friendly"

Cool, could you make the same for the other version?

There is dropboxes etc if you want to share files. But theres no playback function in that obiviously. Thanks for sharing this mate. This is really interesting.
