I am not sure why it bothers me so much, but it does. Someone makes a very nice thread, then they put some note in it for mods to move it wherever they see fit. Guess what? They will do that anyway. The mods will move or adjust a thread however the rules apply.

All in all, if this is the biggest issue I have, my day is going quite well. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Mods: Please have a nice day.

I have made a few posts that I wasn't sure as to where or which forum was the best for them.

I just find it good and polite form to let the mods know it isn't a biggy if they move it or not.

Come on now, in todays world people get butt hurt over everything, including a forum moderator moving their thread to a different topic....

I do it all the time.
Basically it's a psychological way to not seem like a dumb-ass if your post gets moved. Kind of a pre-emptive, "I might be a dumb-ass for posting in the wrong spot" type of thingy.

Purely unneeded, I agree.

I see what you are saying. It just makes me cringe when I see it.

Perhaps they should have a whiner section of the Rant forum, then they could move threads like this, there.

I get you though, and I hope you didn't feel I was coming down on you.

Just sharing my perception of the rant.

I might do it if I ever run across something that I think is worthy of posting, but I'm not sure exactly where it goes. There is a DA:I "review" video I saw yesterday, for example. If I posted it, I wouldn't be able to decide whether it was video games or jokes. So, I might make a note that I couldn't decide where it fit better.

For me it was kind of like a "I tried to find the correct forum and was unsure, if you have to move it I am sorry that I added to your workload" sort of thing.

It shows that you did put in some effort to try and find the correct forum. That and what canucks555 said.

With my threads and posts, it's usually a plea not to ban me.

LOL!

Those post removals and U2U's are definitely a form of behavioral modifications aren't they?

They're keepin' the brother down!

They're just doing their job!

I agree!

I wasn't saying it as a slam against the Mods, because as many spankings they have given me, I am not only thankful they haven't give me the ban hammer, but I have taken those little spankings and used them to not only to try to improve my behavior on ATS, but to also realize that I needed to pay attention in my private life on how I react and talk to people!

I have a ways to go, but still trying!

It might be a "disclaimer" by people who might be socially insecure.

Or scared to death to begin with !!

To me that is a form of respect towards the mods. After all isn't fear based upon doing the wrong thing? Psychologically, I think it is a harder thing to accept as an adult to be disciplined than it is as a child!

When I see how some adults behave, isn't it a wonder that we are having a problem with our youth?

I absolutely totally agree, and its uncanny that you've made this thread as i was thinking about doing one tonight as well.
The mods will move a thread if they see fit.

Sorry if its been posted and if its in the wrong place and if I don't take the time to check or ask where I should put it because after all the most important thing is I am first to post it!

I broke it, I broke it. Me, Me, Me….

I also hate it when the first line of a new thread is "I did a search on ATS but didn't find anything about this ...".

Every poster should be doing their due diligence and anyone who has used the ATS search function knows it doesn't work very well anyway. You only need to state the obvious if you're called out on it.

It irks me too. I get that people are trying not to look stupid but it comes across as them either having an enormous ego or being really stupid. The mods don't need permission.

I blame the people that get all huffy if someone does a repeat thread too. Mods I did a search and didn't find anything and also if you feel like you have to move this thread that's OK.

Mods will move your thread to the appropriate forum with or without your approval. It's their job.

OP, you make some good points. Moderators, please move this post if it is in the wrong post-position (thanks).
