The question should really be, why do we have property taxes in the first place? If nothing else the primary home of each property owner should be exempt from property taxes
If you own the land, live there, and are a reasonable citizen there is no reason for which you can be expelled in my mind.

Property Taxes are the worst of the lot, you can get an 800k loan for a home, repay 1.6m for that home after interest, and then simply lose it all because of a recurring tax. If it's private property, that has been owned for many years, and isn't a disposable items. How can they simply come along and start taxing it? That's nothing more than theft to get those homes.

There should be no property tax on a person's primary residence. Such a thing suggests that the government has the right to foreclose on you should you refuse to pay them your savings. This is the very definition of extortion.
