Man Shot, Paralyzed Over 31 Unpaid Parking Tickets.

McCullers, who had 31 outstanding parking tickets, was shot as he tried to back out of his driveway along the 3400 block of Portland Drive in Whitehall Township around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. His girlfriend says McCullers was on his way to Dunkin' Donuts and was surprised by the constable.

"They never knocked on the door! No nothing! I just heard the gunshots! He pulled the car out of the garage and all I heard were gunshots," said Hafeezah Muhammad, who added that McCullers, who was hit in the back, may not walk again. "For parking tickets?! It's insane."

Whitehall Township Mayor Ed Hozza Jr. said McCullers was shot after he allegedly tried to run over the constable.

So which was it?

Was the victim trying to run over the cop as he backed out of his garage or was he simply going to get donuts when a trigger happy cop overreacted and almost killed him?

Based upon the pictures it looks like they attempted to block him in with their SUV and the victim tried to back out around them. Which would be my exact reaction if people I didn't know pulled up and blocked me from leaving my drive way in an unmarked car.

Maybe one got out and was in the path of his vehicle... I don't know, but what I do know is that they most likely didn't need to resort to shooting the guy over tickets.

Constantly hearing about unnecessary police violence is getting really tiresome.

It is becoming quite clear that a person in anyplace with any object is subject to being killed by deadly force by police for any reason.

The police deliberately antagonize or get in harms way so they can say "oh look he tried to run me over!!! 1" then *bang bang bang*/

Also if you're deceased do you get the parking tickets waived?

The man was not shot because he had 31 parking tickets he was shot because he used his car as a weapon.

It's typical for nbc.

a reply to: thesaneone I wonder the reason for MSM unloading all these police brutality headlines recently. Clearly they could have reported this incident in a better context.

It's like they're trying to make us afraid of the police. Why, I wonder.

Good luck.

This site is riddled with inflammatory thread titles tailored to idiots incapable of reading and having any thought that would contradict with their confirmation bias.

Cop = bad. Cop never do good. Me ATS member super enlightened. Cop shot at man because cop = bad. If cop = bad, then man cop shot at = good. If cop no like, mean I do like.

So you don't know anything, but obviously the cops were in the wrong.

You really think they 'resorted to shooting him over tickets'? They showed up and were like screw this guy, he has tickets. Let's risk our careers, our freedom, our lives and just shoot him because we care so much about some idiot that didn't pay his fines?

You make wild ass assumptions about the police doing the wrong thing, but the guy who is clearly a scofflaw is oh so innocent?

Redundant redundancy?

When I mowed the lawn my lawn got mowed.

Could you 'care less' what I think?

Deadly force doesn't mean a person had to die.

An amount of force that is likely to cause either serious bodily injury or death to another person.

I see your point...

Fleeing from anyone else trying to halt or detain you should be expected. Anyone should know to get out of the way of a moving vehicle. Attempting to flee could be dangerous regardless of who it is. Attempting to flee from the police is quite likely to become deadly even if it is over such a grievous issue as a few unpaid parking tickets.

Such intrasigence and disregard for justice deserves its due punishment.

Submit to authority as your life may depend upon it.

I just gave my opinion. No reason to be so hostile.

My hope is that the officers are innocent. I'm just not convinced yet.
