The summer of 2014 will go down in history as the season when America fell apart. Let’s take a tour of the disasters

This article highlights many of the things discussed here on ATS, and touches on some I haven't seen here as well.

It's a concise read, no more then a paragraph or two, for the items mentioned. I urge you all to give it a read.

Foreign leaders don’t trust the U.S. They are baffled as to whether America is guilty of incompetence in hiring such a roguish dropout snoop in the first place, or guilty of cynically spying on America’s best friends — or both.

This is part of the paragraph on Snowden, and the Nsa. It says what the MSM is not. Is our government that incompentent, or is this what we get for outsourcing to contracters, what should have been an "in-house" job?

The borrowing of $7 trillion has proved no stimulus. A natural American recovery was stymied by vast federal borrowing, by the addition of more incomprehensible regulations, and by an Obamacare package that proved to be the opposite of almost everything that was promised. Inflation is said to be manageable, but only by not counting soaring food, gas, and electricity costs that do the most to erode family budgets.

Ahh yes, the stimulous packages.. How could we forget those.. We will be paying for them well past any of our life time here on Earth.

It is still a hard thing to derail America in a summer — but then again, we have a long way to go until fall.

This is true too, we're all wrapped up in our weekend fun, and worshipping the sun. It's a carefree summer, with kids out of school, and the like. Could it all come crashing down?

The article also points out how it has been one thing after another, for some time now, with the current administration.

We can't get one thing dealt with before another crazy twilight-zone quality item comes to light.

It's not just the President and chief, either, it's the WHOLE administration, from the DoJ, to the IRS, the EPA< and so on.

How much more will we take? How many more excuses will we accept? How much more of this once great country can we afford to see flushed down the literal toilet?

We are all responsible for holding our governments ACCOUNTABLE for what they are doing. It appears accountability is at an all time low.

NOTE: If we can please refrain from blaming previous administrations, and calling people "racist" or "bigots", and falling into the two party trap, it would be quite civil of us all, as civil discussion is necessary.

It is all part of the plan to bring down America in order to implement UN Agenda 21 and create a North American component ready made to join the NWO. The illegal immigration is also a component. As much as I dislike Obama, he is just a tool of the global elites.

BUT you MUST blame previous administrations! Not just Obama! Not just Bush either, but these problems didn't start in 2008 like the flip of a switch. I personally think this is WHY it will never get better. We see a president doing bad (or "not to my liking") so we let it drive us stupid at the polling booth so we "don't make that mistake again". But each election we go all in to get a "better president" yet leave 95% of congress in place (people change but ideology stays).

To me, "please don't blame previous administrations" is like saying "lets not actually try to figure out why all of this is happening. Let's keep pushing the repeat button"

I just can't go along with this thinking. Yes Bush, (both of them) committed acts and sponsored anti american and unconstitutional things.
BUT EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS THIS!

If you can escape that particular propaganda method of cheap deflection every time people are speaking out about Obama's commie, Marxist, illegal, criminal, and more like what you would expect from a rookie boat man for a pack of Somalian pirates, then you will see the folly of disregarding Obama's daily disasters, by adding in what everyone has already understood for years about bush, and all the rest of the massive corruption we currently are. (When Obama became the criminal front man for all the commie traitor tin horn dictators like Van Jones who is still on Obama's payroll, all the rats came out to feed on the opportunity that Obama being elected was the criminal victory for any sort of God forsaken filth the riffraff could dream up. They are still taking it to the bank like pirate loot.
Obama is lower than a
toilet bug and 3 times as dirty.

By continuing to recognise the previous mistakes of previous administrations we enable to current administration to continue on with their mess, and the next to do the same. It's like being caught driving while intoxicated. "Well officer, the guy you caught 10 minutes ago, was also doing the same thing, so it's his fault that it continues".

That sort of thinking prepetuates the cycle. If it is always the previous groups fault, then no current administraton CAN be held accountable, because the current administration wasn't the one to make the mess.

If the current administration doesn't take and become accountable, and the previous one can't be held accountable; then there will never be any accountable administration.

So as much as i understand where your coming from, I cannot agree with it. If that is the case, no one can be held accountable for anything; because the person who did it before, is responsible.

Much like there is a pure and simple responsibility, and accountability issue with todays society. But that is a different issue, for a different thread. Simply tho, as above, so below.

Blame the self perpetuating system and not the parts used in its operation. One flows into the other then back out again.

I see your point but I respectfully disagree.

That sort of thinking perpetuates the cycle just as much.

These very intelligent remarks are the very things said by people who will flock to the booth to vote in the next schmuck who "will save us".

Then we are all to blame, each and every one of us.

It's our fault for being apathetic, and allowing these crimes we call a government to perpetuate, and thrive.

It is our fault for buying the propaganda, and lies, because we wish to not have to think, and ajust the system when necessary.

And I am guessing, in your perspective, that is just fine?

I personally, would prefer a lot less breathing down my neck.

Not at all. My perspective is that ignoring history is the nail in our coffin. Blame us, yes. But just forgetting about the intricate steps that got us here will only lead us further into a pit. Blame the people, not the person. For the person is awake and alert. The people are blind and asleep at the wheel.

And I apologize for kind of derailing the point of the thread which was "what can we do to fix this". I work in Plastic Injection Molding and I was taught years ago very logical troubleshooting techniques like finding out WHY something is happening instead of just fix it by pushing the buttons "that worked the last time". Heat, Flow, Pressure, Cooling are the 4 Injection Molding variables that will cause almost every defect. With politics it's the same. We keep trying to fix it by ignoring logical troubleshooting and pretending we knew what "caused it the last time". Because of that, we have a back and forth, right and left, good and bad system.

A woman is cooking ham for her family, and she cuts it in half before putting it in the oven. Her daughter asks why and the mom said "it tastes better, just go ask your grandma". The girl asks grandma why the ham gets cut, and grandma says "it makes it taste better, go ask great grandma". The girl then asks great grandma why the ham tastes better when cut in half and the great grandma says "taste better? The ham gets cut because 50 years ago I had a really small oven and couldn't fit the ham in their whole."

But that cycle perpetuated because nobody looked back to find the root of the issue.

Well the economy works on waves. We've had about 6 years since 2008 of "recovery", well eventually the climb up has to end and we come down no matter how little we climbed up. It is basic economic theory.

We will take it all, because no one wants to do anything about it. We will accept all the excuses. All of it flushed.

At this point the only way for change to occur is to wait for it all to come crumbling down and hopefully we can rebuild into something better from there. The players are too entrenched into the system to get any meaningful change done. The laws are stacked on the sides of the corporations who can afford to higher armies of lawyers to get their way. Everyone is skimming off the top and there is just too much holding the corruption in place to root it out. We find one corrupt person, expel him or her and then another takes his or her place. Meanwhile we have done nothing to quell the corruption from that person's peers. Scandals are swept under the rug by the talking heads making a lot of noise about enacting change but that is just so they can buy time for the public to forget about it. The whole system is setup now to resist change instead of embrace it.

Obama has hardly been a good president but I would hardly say he is destroying our country. It takes a lot more than one or two presidents to do that. Each administration faces their own unique problems and deal with them the way they think is best, sometimes they are successful and sometimes they fail but the country still limps along.

We have a very long way to go before our nation falls apart but it is the common problem of each generation thinking they are facing the greatest problems our nation has ever faced and that nobody has ever had to deal with the massive problems that the current generation does.

That is simply not true.

I have articles from the time when electricity was being introduced on a massive scale and how the Doomsayers were preaching that it was the end of America because of the job loss, the new crime waves that would happen.....yada, yada, yada.

WWI and WWII were the end of our nation as was the socialist takeover by the bankers with FDR's New Deal. Yes, that conspiracy is as old as dirt and can be pre-dated to Roman Times actually with the rise of the Knights Templar and their banks.

There comes a point when a logical person needs to separate conspiracy from reality.

Obama's America, including the part he inherited, saddens me immensely. Our individual freedoms seem more of a wish than a reality, a transparent administration is beyond reach, any possibility of returning to financial solvency is incomprehensible, and procuring a stable future for our children is currently impossible. It is true there is plenty enough blame to go around when previous presidents and congress are included, but Obama has done so much damage by himself it is hard to narrow blame elsewhere. His constant arrogance and history of untruthfulness transcends anything I have ever seen in my 56 years and his total aloofness continues to damage the US and our image in ways we may not even understand until much later. He has failed as a leader, and even giving him credit for facing an adversarial House of Representatives, his choices have proven a lack of the ability to prioritize and be productive in a positive manner.

Obama's America resembles something far from a true democracy or republic as this president feels content in selecting the laws he will enforce and directing his administration to ignore those laws he decides should be different or he hasn't had time to unilaterally change yet. This disregard for the laws of the land, all of which had some merit to someone somewhere leaves us all in a constant state of confusion and concern not knowing what new presidential declaration will infringe on us next.

Perhaps most devastating and libelous is where Obama's America stands on the world stage. Without rehashing the obvious regarding Israel, Iran, Iraq, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, etc, we have lost stature as a powerful nation that wields a big stick or showers appropriate compassion when needed. How this will affect us in years or decades to come not only adds to the sadness I feel for this nation, but adds a great fear for what can and will happen to our unprepared country in both the short and long term.

Altogether, Obama's America is weaker and more wayward than any path any president before him has ever taken us. He has time to correct some of his foibles, but that also means he has time to compound the damage.

I fear which direction he will choose.
