Many of the Jews I know seem to at every turn go out of there way to reinforce the type of negative stereotypes that leads to what they they claim is anti semetic responses.

Not only that many of them use phrases like wipe them off the map when speaking about Iran and yet get all pissy about Palestinians fighting for what land they have left.

No one is perfect, even vedder got in trouble for failing to thank a life guard who saved him from drowning once.

I think isreal will ultimately get what they give and the reality of that frightens them.

Israel is about to have a PR nightmare. People around the world are starting to really question them. Are the leaders in this country so far gone they can not see the social climate turning against them? Reactions and comments like this are only fueling the fire.

The people of Israel need to wake up. Pretty soon major allies will no longer support them. The time is coming and coming fast.

And what part of the plan going PERFECTLY, do you not understand ??

They PRAY that it all goes down, SOON.

And the others that have them as blinded as anyone else, are foaming at the mouth for this battle.

All sides tricked into a mutual final battle, with no winners, AGAIN.

Why should anyone be afraid to speak out against wrongs being committed? Why would Israel be off limits for criticism? Most people are simply ignorant of the history Israel has with UN violations, and quite simply they know nothing but what Western media feeds them.

Oh God, I got called anti-semitic by someone on CNN comments yesterday for simply saying that the Jews had no more claim to the land then other ethnic/religious groups, and hence there should be a fair solution that honors everyone.

I'm beginning to grow in frustration at anyone who sweeps aside any criticism of Israel's government/IDF as anti-Israel or anti-Semitic. I find it manipulative and dishonest. Either that or the person saying really is brainwashed or low-IQ.

Following accusations by Israeli media that his recent onstage anti-war rant was anti-Israel, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder took to the band's website to write that "I’d rather be naïve, heartfelt and hopeful than resigned to say nothing for fear of misinterpretation and retribution."

During a Pearl Jam concert Eddie Vedder goes off on a rant about war. It pisses him off that we live in an age that we do where we are able to communicate with anyone instantly yet we cannot achieve peace. The words that angrily come out of him are clearly anti war and he's taking heat for it. Israel is accusing Eddie of being, well, anti Israel.

In his rant he talks about taking over land and killing innocent people. He yells that the invaders should GTFO & mind their own damn business. He names no nations in particular but his words can ring true from Russia to the USA to the UK to China to Japan to Iraq.. and so on.

But who took offense? Israel.

Well, Eddie isn't afraid of what Israel thinks and will continue to speak his mind. It warms my heart to hear a favorite rocker of mine be so angry about the constant war instead of being oblivious to it.

Preach on Eddie.

A logically fallacious statement. There are many musicians, just like people of other industries, who are very active or well educated. Many have degrees specifically in such fields as history or political science. Many have worked at some point in their lives on some major issue, such as poverty or politics.

Try again.

This is like during the Bush era were there were conservative communities that forced people to take down peace signs in their yard because those were "anti-American" or not patriotic. Ridiculous.

Eddie Vetter said something. There's no surprise. Does he know what he's talking about? Um, according to past history, no. He has a soapbox. He's using it. He really should know what he's talking about before he gets into the arena. He didn't know that these people would be pissed? I guess he's not up on current events. So.... STFU and sing. Is that an oxymoron?

So a few Israeli teens are murdered and so Hamas claims to have done it and you find that not enough of a murder to respond to? I find it hard to imagine a world in which hamas can run around killing anyone they don't like and hide under the cover of civilization from rebuttal and attack. Action.....reaction....they had names but to hamas they were just numbers and blood in the papers, same to Eddie Vedder, just numbers in the paper. How are they terrorists for responding to ruthless thugs? How many rockets have hamas fired into Israel? It's easy to forget that the jewish people are the underdog here, they are the minority and these Islamic people are careless about how they appear to the rest of the world as they murder kids in front of everyone, Vedders just wrong, when a horde comes to kill and destroy your people you don't lie down let them, you certainly don't encourage them and tell them they are the justified ones, all you do then maybe encourage more of it. Islam has done more harm than good in the world, just take nobel prizes as a simplistic marker. A smaller minority of people have made life better for all of us, while a majority has flown planes into buildings hijacked planes, blown themselves up in public places and burnt cars and held massive protests that usually turn violent, they are invading what's left of Europe and you sleep, as Vedder sleeps into the dustbin of cultural insignificance, soon to be replaced by burkas and Sharia....welcome to the 2nd coming of the dark ages. Then one also has to consider how unpredictable life maybe and this guy also want us completely disarmed, he's so anti-gun it maybe not even funny but very old world Euro trash like in his approach, just let government take care of it seems his solution. I saw him live in 1991, never again. The more he opened his mouth in public the less interesting his art became to me.

Hamas didn't take credit for killing those teens. Sadly they praised those that did. How do you feel about the Palestinian teen who was kidnapped and burnt alive by 3 Israelis?

Did you really say the Jewish people are the minority here? Sure, if you're gonna to say the Jewish people are outnumbered by the entire Middle East than you would be right BUT this conflict ISN'T Israel vs Middle East, rather it's Israel vs Gaza. Not surprising your post is completely anti Islam. What you're saying is just as bad as people blaming all the Jews for Israeli's actions. Which in turn, those people who do say such things are called anti Semites instantly. Your post reeks of hate and prejudice.

Who are the under dogs in this fight?

Well, stopping there would be kinda silly, I agree. Still, I am curious. Who do you look for to speak about social justice?

I'm not trying to play gotcha here, but I am genuinely interested.

If you are anti-war, you are anti-war. If you use your anti-war message to bulwark your performance as an artist, or to provide inspiration, so what?

I'm not a big fan of Vedder or PJ myself, but I did love MotherLoveBone as a YA in the late 80's.

"Israel vs Gaza"

There is no Israel vs Gaza, that would only be valid if Gaza (re: Palestinians) had any actual military presence instead you have people resisting.

What amazes me is how the megaphonies come out of their rocks and make statements like:

"Oh if they didn't hide amongst the civilians Israel wouldn't have to blow them all up" - yeah using banned shrapnel weapons and white phosphorous bombs right?

They are not hiding you scum bags, they ARE the civilians!

And if you present any evidence we get the tired old BS: "Hamas propaganda", yeah Israel is squeaky clean here.

This doctor puts it bluntly:

Lakes of Blood

Israel needs to stop trying to screw with peoples perceptions and simply admit they are out for blood and there is nothing that will stop them.

A pastor I know called it best, "Children of Satan"...anyone who commits any kind of evil is exactly that.

Well, it seems Eddie is in good company and lots of it. All over the web today there are articles relevant to other countries condemning Israeli actions. Even China is jumping into the fray with statements relevant to what is taking place and the need for Israel to stop. Many people in Vienna have spoken out against the Israeli behaviors/actions. There seem to be more and more countries and peoples speaking out against what is occurring in Gaza. It seems soon, the USA will be the only cheerleaders left. I wonder why. Why are there politicians in our govt. with dual citizenship...ours and Israeli? That is wrong. Those folks should be sent packing. No conflict of interest on their part...how do we know?

Who is Hamas really? They could even be Mossad provocateurs. It is easy for us to surmise but there are a lot of facts we aren't privy to. At any rate....the murders must stop. World opinion is no longer leaning towards Israel...more and more countries and peoples are not agreeing with the slaughtering any longer. There must be reasons other than just "Jew" hating.

I find it humorous how you claim a country that maybe surrounded by Islamic countries as being the bully! Maybe we should take all the states that are around you governed by Sharia Law and see how that might affect your lifestyle with people blowing themselves up while you maybe eating lunch with your kids. Take your pick there are many places where you can go live and help these "victims" with their peaceful religious love.

What a socialist douche. I remember when he wrote on his arms right to murder babies ,whoops I mean pro-choice. It's really ashamed that so many supporters of this site have no idea how much Israel wants peace but because Hamas is terrorist and so is the group of Palestinian people. You realize that the Palestinians don't have their own country...... They are just a group of angry evil people set on murdering the innocent of Israel. It's really not rocket science... Who is attacking who.... Oh wait you really don't get the real truth on this site. Wake up people.

Yeh. At the same time every night, I say the same thing about Eddie Vedder. Then I play a song.
I couldn't understand a word he was saying when he was saying it at the show I attended, so I couldn't agree or object to it, the statement this post is about is so sweeping, I can't say he's condemning the actions of a specific country. I listened to the tape, then read the transcript, because I don't know if it's just me, but I have a hard time understanding him.

There are three groups that I've not listened to after I'd seen them in concert; Phish, Pearl Jam, and Black 47, though I really don't know why. It just seemed the mood to listen to the music dampened after going to a concert. I haven't bought a PJ song since 1994.

It's not like a was a bad show, it's just I didn't care for the music anymore.
