One of the Greatest Guitarist has passed away at age 70. Many times chosen as a greatest guitarist of the World by The Guitar World Magazine at 80´s along with other great guitarist with the title Eddie Van Halen and 63rd by Rollings Stone Magazine.

Rest in Peace Johnny ! You will be remembered !

Well that's pretty sad. He was always one of my favorites. I wore out a vinyl copy of Johnny Winter And - Live back in college. He could flat play.

Oh noooo! Really? That's so sad.

I'm lucky I had the opportunity to see him live, many years ago.
He was wonderful.

Thanks for the thread, dollukka. I would always prefer to hear sad news from someone here, than on the cold hard news.

One dude I never got to see, but still love to crank up Frankenstein every once in a while. Maybe one of the best songs ever to play at 11

That was more specifically his brother Edgar, but he's definitely a musical force as well.

Ah yes my bad. I just pulled out the vinyl copy

I still have all my old vinyl but nothing to play them on
There's something to be said for LPs. I always looked forward to seeing the artwork and what ever might have been included in or on it - lyrics, bios and stories, pics of the group or artist and sometimes a special surprise like Alice Cooper's Schools out that came with a pair of panties lol

A great blues and rock guitarist. He will be sorely missed.

Not the best quality, but a great clip of the brothers together. Johnny of course, is the guy on the left.

Yes...Frankenstein was NOT his song...it was his brother Edgar Winter and White Trash....
But Rock n Roll Hoochie Coo and Jumpin JAck Flash were two of his...as a guitarist myself...the music world just got a bit darker....RIP Johnny
