A large, 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck hundreds of kilometers off the coast of Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture on Saturday morning, according to preliminary reports.
Japan’s quake-monitoring agency said the quake hit a few minutes ago.
The USGS said via its website that the quake hit 94 miles from Namie and Iwaki, 103 miles from Kitaibaraki, and 106 from Takahagi. The quake was also positioned about 185 miles from Tokyo.
The agency said the earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale.
It had a depth of 6.2 miles.
Marine threat is in place.
Get out of the water and leave the coast immediately.
As the strong current will continue, do not get in the sea or approach coasts until the advisory is cleared.
Though there may be slight sea-level change in coastal regions, no tsunami damage is expected.

Hopefully it's no more of an issue than that.

Well...it triggered the early warning system which means a buoy of some sort rose high enough as to set it off....guess we will find out soon enough. A shallow EQ I think makes for a larger wave correct? And this quake was shallow.
