it's not 4 hours anymore.

more than once, i've wanted to edit a post 2-3 hours after submission, and i get the error message that i've exceeded the 4 hour limit.

something's very wrong here, please fix it?

This happened to me the other night. I kept clicking back looking at the time to make sure I wasn't mistaken and just chalked it up to a glitch somewhere.

But yeah... Me too.

It's always been like that for me,
but it's worse since the new format.

The other night it was something like 2 hours & 10 minutes,
it said exceeded the 4 hours!!!

Way back, I thought it might be the 1 hour time difference from where I am...
but no...that wasn't it either! There was more than an hour left every time!!!

Just have to try really hard to think of everything you want to say,
& spit it out with no mistakes, before the drift of the thread changes some!

I REALLY, REALLY, like that you can read the posts now as you reply!!!!

But I have to post using the reply tab only.
When I use the preview tab, the internet stops working & I lose everything!!!
I think that might be an issue with my computer though.
It won't let me copy & paste to save it either!
I hate having to draft a reply on desktop too.
So I guess it is what it is?!

Pretty sure I've seen this subject discussed. Somebody (a mod IIRC) said the edit time is actually just an hour.

then it should be an hour...shouldn't say 4...

if it's supposed to be 4 though, they should fix that.

i hate having to ask a mod to fix a post for me.

Actually it's two hours. Next time you make a post verify this. Click edit, and you'll see a message that says you have 119 minutes left to edit the post. Then just refresh/cancel if you don't really need to make any edits.

They should change it from 2 hours to 4 so it matches the 4 hour message.

I complained about this for the first three years after I joined the site and they never cared to do anything about it...finally I just gave up for the last few years, until I saw this thread and decided to correct the bad information about 1 hour.

one hour, two hours, i don't give a fig....if the thing says you should have four hours, then you should have four hours...so either they should fix it so we have the four hours, OR they should fix the message, to reflect that we really only get 2 hours....

it's a minor detail, but it has a massive impact.

I think it should be 15 minutes, any longer than that and very few will see your edit.

It's more important for me to weed out the typos in the final version, than to worry about who did or didn't see the edit. Yes I make typos sometimes...I admit it. Anybody who's seen my unedited posts knows it.

But 15 minutes isn't enough time to get them corrected because I may have to do something else for an hour after posting before I can get back to it when I notice the typo. 2 hours isn't that bad but 4 hours would be better.

It never was four hours. The wording of the message is wrong.

If you post a comment and then go in to "edit" shortly afterwards, you will see a message above the edit box telling you exactly how many minutes remain for editing.
The number appears to count down from "120 minutes".
In the rest of the wortld that is two hours- in the ATS universe, which has shorter hours, it counts as four.
