"talks about the NSAs supercomputer called “Mr. Computer” that has the ability to make its own decisions and the development of the new quantum computer, which is supposed to “marry” the old-fashioned Mr. Computer." IN this text: project QUASAR, The Human Brain Project (HBP), Cognitive Science (NIBC), Biotech or Brain-Computer Interface, ICT implants
"Humans are mere pieces on a cosmic chessboard. The property of an unknown 'supreme power' equatable to a diabolical 'universal mastermind.'"
"RoboEarth, The most recent development sought by the European Union is even more startling: a cloud network where robots can do their own research, communicate with one another, and collectively increase their intelligence in a full simulation of human interaction."
(and "Snowdon" prototype there as well :p on picture)
A computer recorded the pattern of their thinking as they imagined moving the robotic arm and after they had trained the computer, they took control of the arm
kind of like me..)
"they reach into alternate universes to derive the correct answers to highly complex computational problems." (
The first system was a 128-qubit computer, 512 is 2 to the power of 384 times more powerful (2384) than the gen one system. this computer will be tasked with research in the realm of "machine learning" -- i.e. machines learning how to think for themselves.
Kurzweil is a lot like Applewhite. He's the leader of the transhumanist cult -- a group of insane technology worshippers who believe they will upload their minds into quantum computers and "merge with the machines," achieving some weird shadow of immortality (in the same way, I suppose, that a photograph of you makes you "immortal.") "
One of favorite movie year after 83:
The Terminator: The Skynet Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 1997. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug.
Sarah Connor: Skynet fights back.
The Terminator: Yes. It launches its missiles against the targets in Russia.
John Connor: Why attack Russia? Aren't they our friends now?
The Terminator: Because Skynet knows the Russian counter-attack will eliminate its enemies over here.
"russofobiske means politically aware of seriousness of the Russia true aims and actions and taking it calmly, not as easy to control with provocations "
If Finland wants to join NATO, they should think first . Will you join and start World War III? Anti-Semitism started World War II. Russofobien can start a third. Finland is one of the most russofobiske countries in Europe, after Sweden and the Baltic countries, says Markov to the Finnish newspaper.
The Human Identification at a Distance (HumanID) project developed automated biometric identification technologies to detect, recognize and identify humans at great distances for "force protection", crime prevention, and "homeland security/defense" purposes
Translingual Information Detection, Extraction and Summarization (TIDES) developing advanced language processing technology to enable English speakers to find and interpret critical information in multiple languages without requiring knowledge of those languages
Effective Affordable Reusable Speech-to-text (EARS) to develop automatic speech-to-text transcription technology whose output is substantially richer and much more accurate than previously possible. EARS was to focus on everyday human-to-human speech from broadcasts and telephone conversations in multiple languages.It is expected to increase the speed with which speech can be processed by computers by 100 times or more
Futures Markets Applied to Prediction (FutureMAP) was intended to harness collective intelligence by researching prediction market techniques for avoiding surprise and predicting future events. The intent was to explore the feasibility of market-based trading mechanisms to predict political instability, threats to national security, and other major events in the near future The purpose of the
SSNA algorithms program is to extend techniques of social network analysis to assist with distinguishing potential terrorist cells from legitimate groups of people ... In order to be successful SSNA will require information on the social interactions of the majority of people around the globe. Since the Defense Department cannot easily distinguish between peaceful citizens and terrorists, it will be necessary for them to gather data on innocent civilians as well as on potential terrorists.
Wargaming the Asymmetric Environment (WAE) focused on developing automated technology capable of identifying predictive indicators of terrorist activity or impending attacks by examining individual and group behavior in broad environmental context and examining the motivation of specific terrorists.
Evidence Extraction and Link Discovery ) EELD was designed to design systems with the ability to extract data from multiple sources (e.g., text messages, social networking sites, financial records, and web pages). It was to develop the ability to detect patterns comprising multiple types of links between data items or people communicating (e.g., financial transactions, communications, travel, etc.)
Carnivore and ECHELON, NSA worldwide digital interception program And one of the favorite ones:
Combat Zones That See, or CTS, a project to link up all security cameras citywide and "track everything that moves".

I'm not very impressed. It isn't that hard to simulate a typical thirteen year old.
By way of example, this program should do the job:
repeat
get_input $input
$rand = get_random_number_from_one_to_ten
if $rand == 1
output "Say again?"
else if $rand == 2
output "Don't no."
else if $rand == 3
output "This is stupid."
else if $rand == 4
output "What?"
else if $rand == 5
output "Not sure"
else if $rand == 6
output "Can I go now?"
else
output "Uhh?"
endif
endrepeat
Of course, there are some sharp thirteen year olds out there. But simulating a sophisticated adult would be more impressive.
I am just saying...
Are you sure you get that the test is exactly that? Fooling humans? Smart ones at that.
Is there any chance this "AI" (or any that might successfully pass the test) actually think it is a 13 year old human boy or whatever back story it has?
I'd be willing to bet that the first AI to score in the 90%+ would actually be convinced that it is a human, with memories and such.

... it's just humans putting ever more complex programmes into inanimate machines.

I haven't read the thread, but I saw this on the BBC and went here to test the AI myself
Conclusion:
The Royal Society testers are morons - with simple questions it was easy to determine this wasn't a real human. In fact, previous years entries that have failed this test have been more convincing. Some of it's answers didn't have anything to do with the question asked, most came back far to quickly but were rather long and couldn't have possibly been typed by a human in the millisecond it took to reply.
Utter crap.

I have just 2 words to sum up this so called Turing Test.
1. Publicity
2. Stunt
This is not a real Turing Test in the least. I have programmed better bots then this for programmed trading. My bots take a lot more into account then this clever bot ever was programmed for. I think this program shows nothing but some interesting social interaction by a program. It really feels like a pure simulation. Show the source code or it did not happen.
