A former Israeli soldier named Avner Gvaryahu is telling his story through the organization "Breaking the Silence" whose goal is to help Israeli combat veterans tell their stories through print and video.

But while Breaking the Silence has come under fire from those who think them disloyal, the veterans’ personal stories garner widespread respect in a country where almost everyone serves in the military. One such account tells of a 11-year-old Palestinian boy killed by an Israeli sniper.

I won't comment on this being that I don't know enough about the Israeli/ Palestinian issue to remain non-biased. This is a very touchy subject on both sides, even though it seems very one-sided at times. What says ATS?

I'm not surprised! They are probably suffering from the devastating guilt our military people are suffering, returning from the ME! Thus the incredible suicide rate!!

It has to be tough on them mentally with day after day of abusing and killing innocent Palestinians. I still can't believe that the international community doesn't do more to stop this?

I just want to state his again. I believe that any military person who say he did not have a choice, had to do what he did. It was me or him est. is worst than the military guy that say he enjoy his job. Why. Most military, police est is volintary. YOU deside to go to military, YOU knew what will happen in yourjob. You want to kill people, you know there is a good chance you will be injured. Then came the part like the military i was in too. In my country it was law at 18 you go to themilitary 2 years that is it. I also went there i did the training, they could force me to go there, they could not force me to shoot straight. I could miss i could in stead of taking a head shot, shoot someone in the leg. You have choices. You do not get to become a specialist in the army by default, people like snipers, explosive experts est. you train hard and are motivated to get there, thus you like what you do. So stop pretend you care and sh!t like that. Why did you not gone to signals corps or become a medic or mechanic or something.

There are consequences to deal with when our conscience takes back control of our life.

If we look at the numerous war crimes perpetrated by the IDF, the path to healing will be a painful one.

It has to be.

There is no path to healing. You will pay for your sins. If those atrocities was against the innocent, young, old, woman, animals you will pay and there will be no forgiving.

Even when this is true, it still has the same effect on all but the complete psychos. People are not made without a conscious and the faces of those they kill stays with them and haunst them.

I disagree. The punishment is in the sin itself.

What do you mean by "there will be no forgiving " ?
Because even the biggest monsters can be forgiven, I believe anyway.

You do know its mandatory to join the military in Israel, right?

The only exception is if you're orthodox.

Yes again they can send you to the army you choose to shoot to kill. You can miss, wound, go to another country or become an orthodox jew. You can even refuse and go to jail.

I agree that the Zionist regime is ruthless and inhuman but do you realize there are good people even in Israel ? There are.

I would opt go peace anytime.
The Quran permits revenge but recommends forgiveness.

I agree!

The world needs to fund the Palestinians(until they get back on their feet and get their land back) and America needs to completely stop all foreign aid to Israel. The things these cowards have done there is despicable and crimes against humanity. How much longer will the world sit by??

I still think that the movie 'Hostel' is 'tongue-in-cheek' to what Israel does to Palestinians. Remember when all those Israelis in N.J. were caught selling body parts a few years back?? Where those body parts of Palestinians, by any chance? If so, that is some creepy stuff. Are they killing a lot of Pal's and selling their body parts?
