A soldier does not choose his wars only his battles. This administration is reckless in how it wages war and I choose not to offer my services to it. It is as simple as I can put it.

And I can respect that. Honestly. I totally can. I dont like this administration anymore than you do. Even I feel you gave enough to your people and country after what you said. I just don't see the point in even making this about my possible intentions instead of the subject at hand. I am not saying that you have or tried to but others here most certainly have. While I don't mind since it gives me an opportunity to elaborate on what I think and feel about their position and argument, I do think it detracts from the conversation.

No harm no foul though.

Have a good one sir.

Hold it down.

I'm not Greek but I live in Greece, as you found out by my posts.
My parents are from 2 different European countries (other than Greece) but I grew up in Greece. Family members of mine are scattered all across the world, incl. the USA. In fact I don't feel to belong to any particular country or government, and feelings like patriotism are almost unknown to me!

Here in Greece I live alone with my still underage children and I have to raise them by myself alone, which is hard already due to the crisis in this country, caused by those #ing European governments and lobbyists. Leaving my kids alone and unprotected during a war by going to participate in the fighting would be totally irresponsible against my kids and completely unthinkable for me. Who would look after my kids if I get killed, which would be quite likely in case of a big war / world war?

I have sworn to myself and to my kids to give our own PERSONAL survival the highest priority. For that, in case a war breaks out, fleeing away as refugees to some neutral, secure place until all is over and peace is restored again, would be the best and ONLY option!
And even if the "enemy" Russia, China or whoever would win the war, I wouldn't mind much to adapt to their society and culture and start a new and quite possibly happy life with my family under their reign. At least I would prefer a 1000 times being alive and uninjured after the war instead of being #ing dead!!! A 10000000000000000000 times, dude!!!!

As a father I can understand that. I have a similar sentiment should my wife not be able to take care of our children.

I guess I read you wrong. I am not too big to admit that. We probably have more in common than not.

I don't want bad blood over a dumb thread. I just don't like any extreme, I dont care how "noble" or justified people think it is. I have a particular disgust over some calling people "sheep" as though they are somehow exempt from social programming and are so damn original and "awakened" by parroting the extreme in other directions. I also am pretty tired of people crapping on the US and not shedding some light on the SAME wrongdoings of other nations so as to keep perspective on the whole issue.

I don't really care to have it out over this, and I do believe you now.

My bad.

Good luck and be well.

Hold it down.

OP

Based on your over the top reaction to my single statement:
thousands of words and several paragraphs trying to disparage me
looking up all my previous posts to try and dig up one inconsistency
(which by the way the one you quoted was not inconsistent with what I was saying)

I have come to the conclusion that you are one of 2 persons.

Either

#1 A very young man who can not control his temper and has a very thin skin when not agreed with. By the way, to be respected on this and other sites a reply with a jab for a jab is expected, but a nearly psychotic rant loses respect from the other members.

OR

#2 You are Obama, since you did not deny it. You are testing the waters to see if Americans will support a major war. Why? To save your "legacy" by forcing an economic recovery through a WW. Historically a WW always rebounds economies. Also, your over the top and overly personal response to my little jab at Obama. Obama may be cool on the outside but his actions through his minions show that he has a deeply vengeful side. Your rant reflected this attitude.

I hope and pray the correct answer is #1, if not millions upon millions will die for one man's ego.

As an FYI and why I say NO

I was born and raised and married into the active duty Army and spent over 50 years of my life in it.

I have traveled the world and lived in Asia, Europe and many many of the 50 states.

In the past I might have agreed with you. The US was the best country in the world.

But no longer.

The people in power have destroyed it with their over regulations and ever increasing spying on the lives of ordinary Americans.

The death knell happened on Obama's watch as he did the opposite of all he promised and made everything he touched worse.

It is now forbidden to say certain words (not swear words) in the US.

It is forbidden to do business according to ones principals or one is sent to (sensitivity training) re-education.

It is forbidden to even have certain thoughts without steep criminal penalties if any of ones actions even have the slightest wiff of those thoughts.

We are now a repressive and extremely repressed country - No better than Putin's Russia

OP are you Obama testing the waters for a war? That is who and what you sound like, a spoiled brat wanting to kick ass of someone who has embarrassed you.

A BIG AMEN!
This nation is not the same as it was even fifty years ago...
At some point there will be made a correction by force if necessary.
Until that time, I would advise people to get prepared for the worst and pray for peace.
If you can't hear the drums of war, you must be deaf...

Yes. I am Obama.

If you want respect and civil conversation, how about you show some and dont call people "brats" for having an ideology that differs from your own. Second, being that you have no clue what my personal ideology is, how about you ask first before you assume anything. You really have no idea who I am or what my personal leanings are.

Respect is mutual. You give me nonsense, I will respond in kind. I dont care what your husband did when speaking with you. Its funny you toute his service as vindication for yourself. Also, if you are constantly in fear of a world war and "millions of people dieing", then you are a greater tool for the system than I ever could be.

Live in fear and encourage the divide princess.

Your appreciation for the good and optimism for the country is just what we needed.

EDIT TO ADD:
Before you call me thin skinned, realise that you are the one to insult a complete stranger over words he wrote. Invest in a mirror.

If it did happen, I guess it all boils down to my age. If it broke out now, yes I would serve my country that I love. If it broke out 10 years from now I wouldn't be as willing but would still do my part. If it broke out 20 years irk if there would be much for me to add.

I love my country, but DON'T support this Bozo Government.

This coming from a guy that almost enlisted 3 years ago.

Interesting. If it isn't too personal can you tell us why you were so close to enlisting three years ago, but definitely would not now? Did you change, or did something else?

Honestly, a lot of it boiled down to not believing in the Government and what they are doing. Right at that time the fast and furious scandal and just broke and that really helped me make up my mind. At times I still think of doing it but it's hard to do when you just don't have the same mindset as those who are supposed to be in charge and leading this country.

I could keep going on but would rather not hijack the thread.

Speaking from personal experience as I have severed in combat on many more occasions than I wished , no war is a "good" war. There is nothing glorious or noble about it other than you put your butt on the line to hopefully ensure that America can remain the only place in the world where you can be free. I am sure I will hear a lot of comments regarding my use of the word freedom, but it will come from most uneducated, untraveled voices who have never experienced life outside of their bubble, uneducated in the ways of the world. I have travelled extensively around this globe and for all of our faults, I would never live anywhere else. I do feel that our nation is slipping, our government more entrenched in our personal lives.

You see the only difference between here and there or us and them is we have the constitution to protect us from the government, the rich will always get richer, the middle class get hammered and the poor are kept poor. Face it, it's the same everywhere for the rich however in this Not so grand USA everyone still has a chance to achieve, the poor kid from the inner city or the poor boy from backward backwoods can still become a billionaire if he chooses to sacrifice what it takes to make it, the people who claim to hate America and it's evil are just as protected as the most right wing zealots, the jew, muslim, christain, hindu all are allowed to worship and speak their mind in the public square.

There is no good wars, however there are plenty of things worth dying for, this imperfect country has claimed countless lives, I have given my own blood, but I did and would do it again not for any other reason that our way of life must push on until mankind itself figures out that violence is not the solution.

Just rambling now, I would hope to see and end to war, I am still affected to my very core by the things I have done and seen, however some things are worth dying for.

Peace

I can agree with that.

The world is imperfect and the US is no exception. The US is full of mankind with all its virtues and deficiencies like the rest of the world.

That said,

If you go anywhere else there are some pretty terrible aspects to life there. In other places, maybe just ideologies that are revolting to the core. I guess it is based on perspective. Some places are nice but thats all. That is all based on my own perspective. I dont need to say my country is the greatest to love it to the core. I dont need to crap on other countries to prop my country up. It is good enough for me regardless. I think a true patriot is not offended by the patriotism of others for their country. Love is love after all.

I agree with you. We have PLENTY to be proud of and satisfied with in our country. There is enough of a worthy ethos, people and common venture of individual freedom to say it is worth a fight to defend.

I have not seen war in my short life. I cant say there is such a thing as a "good" war though I use the term "good fight" sometimes. I really wouldnt know for sure until I live it. I will say that sometimes it seems to make more sense than others.

Fighting for the safety and prosperity of your people and your home makes sense to me. Sure it is based on instinct to a degree, but more than that I believe its worth it. I really do think this country is worth it.

It may be slipping into dark corners sure, but it can come back stronger if it doesnt die. That would make the detriment worth the trouble it causes. Hopefully the US sets itself right again and learns how to avoid what brought it down this path in the process. I have faith it will live on.

Have a good one.

Hold it down.

You REALLY think there is a difference between "their" system and ours?

Hello? How well do "communism" (socialism) and super-rich "investors" and billionaires in China, Russia go together?

Realize this is all BS, there is no difference between their systems and ours and thus not even a legitimate reason to see them as enemies.

I am still baffled that the fairy-tale of the difference between the "Western" system and the "communists in China and Russia" is held up..while in reality (at least for me)..I simply cannot see any major difference in ideologies. BOTH, east and west are driven by greed and a few elites are holding the strings. Like here, so over there.

Should such a war ever break out..it will be a war where some people fight because of an illusion..."OMGZ! The communists are coming and taking over etc.."...while in reality only fighting a war for the gain of power/money for a few super-rich...NOT for an alleged difference in ideology as we're told.
Judging from RICH Russians and Chinese who are desperate to send their kids to the West? Clearly: YES.

If WW3 happens then i would advice you and beg you not to fight but to go towards the mountains if you wanna survive.

You can find even in the New Testament Jesus' words about WW3. Based on Him, the ones who will go to the mountains will have greater chances to survive.

Another point i would like to emphasize is the prophecies around WW3. Orthodox Saints have spoken about hundreds of millions of deaths within days. More specifically, the monk Elder Joseph the Vatopaidian, who have so far predicted the war in Ukraine, the recent story behind Euphrates and its waters, the economical crisis and numerous of other smaller incidents, who also made many miracles while in life and still does after his sleep, talked about 700 million dead people in 3 days. More info about him here

Google: γερων ιωσηφ ο βατοπαιδινος

So many of their sayings have come true and i definitely hope that their words will be mistaken from now on. I definitely do not want to be there and see their sayings come true, do you?

Will there be "heroes" if atomic bombs will be used? No. Will atomic bombs be used? Well, if you think that that the US owns 12.000 and Russia owns 16.000 (based on National Geographic 2004, cant remember the month) then you can guess the reply. Would you like to be there when this happens?

When we talk about human life, we talk about the greatest value in life! WW3 is inevitable. No one can stop it. If you take part, only by taking into consideration the current military technology you can be asure that you have less chances to survive than the men who fought in WW2. So, if you can avoid by any chance your participation in it, then do so and do not join it.

There is no meaning joining a war when its result is already known for centuries (draw) and its consequences to our lives (devastating). The sooner you understand it, the better for you.

But apart everything i said, if my country were to fight on WW3 then i would join. No man cannot miss a fight for the protection of his homeland. But since my country won't join ...

The Army of God is far more than one:

The American hunters out number the military by about twenty to one.
A hunter is a sniper as well as a living land mine sitting in a spider hole.
Hunters use high powered scoped rifles.
They dress and look like your neighbors.
Many work within the rank and files of our government and military and law enforcement jobs.
There is a growing number of militia groups in America and they are buying lots of guns and ammo.
When it starts our government will be shocked by the large number of military and police that will join us.
The people in power will be sorry for what they have done to our nations Bill of Rights".

Yeah hate to break this too you too............ Its the same in a lot of developed 1st world countrys. Britain alone has given the world some billion aires that have come from nothing, Alan sugar, Simon cowel and Richard Brandson come to mind

Now don't get me wrong. USA has a lot going for it and is certainly a good place to live. But dont fall into the trap of thinking the things you listed above are things only special and found in the USA. IE, Freedom, Social mobility ect

The "Bill of Rights" is not just a piece of paper, it is however a written legal document that has been ignored for many years.

The US constitution is the foundation for all laws and all laws written are required to pass that standard in principle.

From time to time some laws have been in violation of the US constitution and at some point may be challenged in the courts.

Until a bad law is challenged it will continue to be enforced and peoples rights we be infringed upon.

History has proven that if we do nothing to stop the infringements either in the courts or in the streets, we may lose our God given rights.

Read your "Bill of Rights" and know their value to all of us and to our posterity.
