You are only looking at immediate consequences, I'm talking about long term as well.
Giving birth reduces pain when that child grows up and is there to help you.
Exercising reduces pain when you have a fit body (rather than an unhealthy out of shape) body later on.
Lying reduces pain until the consequences of those lies are revealed.
Cheating reduces pain until the consequences of those actions are revealed.
