A New Hampshire parent was arrested at a Monday night school board meeting after he voiced outrage his ninth grade daughter was assigned a book that contains a page detailing a graphic sexual encounter.

A police officer then arrived at the scene, instructing Baer to leave with him.

“You are going to arrest me because I violated the two-minute rule?” the father said. “I guess you are going to have to arrest me.”

Moments later, Baer was escorted outside and placed in handcuffs. According to WMUR-TV, he was charged with disorderly conduct because he did not immediately leave when asked by an officer.

Arrested for Speaking Out at School Board Meeting.

I would like to know what people think about this.

Should people that speak out of turn at a school board meeting be arrested?

Is this an infringement of the 1st amendment?

At this point I am not sure what to think when US citizens are getting arrested for trying to protect their children, and speaking out of turn at an informal school meeting.

Please send me a PM so I know that I am not living in the twilight zone. What is going on?

Apparently there you are only allowed to speak if it is a benefit to the school! This stuff annoys the crap out of me honestly! People should be able to say whatever they want and get an answer back to their question, not a cop! I am 100% on the father's side here and if I expressed concern about a book my daughter was reading, I would expect an answer also not be arrested!!

When otherwise peaceful people are being arrested for speaking their minds, you know this sinking ship is about to go underwater.

The only way this is going to stop is if we all band together against the Gestapo police. The next time some "officer of the law" tries to make some ridiculous arrest, he should be confronted with hundreds of PEACEFUL people calmly insisting he stand down.

It's shameful that this man got arrested for speaking out against the evils of public education. It's even more shameful that the rest of the crowd let the arrest happen.

Horrible. They'll have to arrest me too next time. I never adhere to two minute rules and have spoken out at many school board meetings. I don't leave quietly and always question authority. Good for that man. You have to stand up for what you believe.

On the other hand, it's a wonder they didn't shoot and kill him after they took him outside. That's what the police do these days. That man is lucky to be alive.

Me too.

I would have a police record a mile long now.

Sorry you can't speak up, or protect your children anymore unless you want to get arrested.

I agree with you.
This is why CommonCore is seemingly entrenched in our schools now. If you speak up, they shut you up.
Even the teachers hate CommonCore.

For the record we don't even allow graphic sexual content here on ATS.

But if a parent objects to his 14 year old being exposed to this type of material then they get arrested?

I think being arrested in a little excessive here. It is a right as a parent, to be concerned about what your kids are watching/reading/writing etc.. Why does the school get to show this stuff to kids without explanation? If the father has a concern about the curriculum, the question should be answered. Good parenting gets met with an arrest record. I'd have a field day with this.

The most that should have been done was the board asking the man to please adhere to the 2 minute rule.

Hey Beez can you image if the guy got up and started to remove his clothing and acted in a sexual explicit manner.

Arrested for sure, but the irony would have been over-the-top.

I just read an excerpt from the book, "Nineteen Minutes", he was speaking out against. It reads like something out of those explicit romance novels. If it pops up on one of my little one's reading lists, I will be arrested for lofting the book at the heads of the morons who included it in the curriculum!!

Sex education is one thing. Providing pornography is quite another.

New Hampshire father opposes...

Yes, I would have a bit of a problem with the school if it was my 9th grade daughter having this in her curriculum. Now that I've read the excerpt, that is a bit racy.

I can't believe there was no outrage from the other parents as this was taking place! No one even questioned what
was happening. Going from the video alone, I'm shocked that this man was actually arrested. It's not like he caused
a scene. Is there going to be an officer at every school board meeting ready to arrest the first person who speaks
out of turn now?

What bugged me the most is that the other parents did naff all, they just sat there and pretended nothing was happening.
Why the hell didn't no one else stand up and speak out. if all of them stood up with this guy then the police wouldn't of arrested all of them.

I'm more annoyed at the reaction of the other parents than the reaction of the school, how brainwashed they are!.
This would not have happened in Britain not a chance, other parents would of stood up also...

Or a special zone up the street where you are free to say whatever you feel, away from the tender ears of authority and media.
