I just read on space dot com that TV news anchors are now coming up with the most preposterous insane reasons for the missing flight.

www.space.com...

Yes, they really debated the apparent appearance and disappearance of a tiny black hole as the reason for the flights disappearance. SERIOUSLY GUYS? Theres huge wars about to start, major political issues in all major countries and all they have to say about one missing flight is "black holes ate it", i wish my hand was ten times larger so i could facepalm the correct amount.

Its very sad for the missing people, 271 people is a big deal and i hope they are safe where ever they are, but making up stuff like this is just stupid and a waste of air time.

On the flip side, its kind of unnerving in this day and age we can "lose" a jet like this, but dont start making up wild insane and un-provable theory's, you may as well say the bloody langoleers ate it.

I agree, this is pretty sad. CNN, I think said the same thing.

Come on, people, we try to find a REALISTIC explanation. Do these so-called "investigative reporters" know how much a black hole, even a tiny one, even weights? And the effect of such a weight on our Earth if it really happened?

S&F for your opinion, which I share.

EDIT

Here, people who still believe in the black hole theory should probably read this:

Even if a black hole capable of swallowing a plane out of the sky did exist, Peter Michelson, a professor of physics and Stanford University added, "a lot of other things would be missing as well." when asked for examples of what we'd notice missing, Michelson said, "probably the Earth."

Starting to make me think something funny did happen to it. Once the news starts spouting complete BS like this, it seems like they wanna make alternative theories seem so stupid they are comical.

"Oh you're just another guy that thinks black holes eat planes!"

I think aged 10 I would have thought that too stupid to mention out loud. Besides Nassim Hammerinomommemnon I don't know who would seriously say that on air...

Indeed. Or maybe the people don't know what's BS anymore, and will believe anything from CNN.

Plus, CNN gets the people's attention and ratings goes up.

I'm no physicist, but from what I've heard and read, a black hole, a micro black hole, natural or man made, might well be as plausible a theory as any other at this juncture, considering the lack of any real evidence. Apparently black holes evaporate too.

It could even, in theory, explain the inexplicable climb of the plan above the ceiling AND it's very rapid descent after (if those are even facts at all).

One woman (I forget both her name and which newscast she was on), in attempting to poopoo this theory, said something like, "That's ridiculous, a black hole would have swallowed up the entire planet." Methinks she's been listening to too many Hadron collider fearmongering stories.

First of all, a black hole could do this, but not necessarily, especially not in the case of a micro. Second, maybe it did and fight 370 is the only thing left on the old plane and we all moved too a new one.

The American media is desperate for news-any news-if they can't find any they will just make something up. They desperately need a war in the Ukraine that bottomed out for them, no big time trials to butt into to or any body to smear who fails to align to their agenda.
Face it almost all the networks are drowning in debt as advertisers flee to cheaper methods.

Many of the islands in the area are stuck in the 15th century and they got no where to send their dimbulb blondes.

My first reaction to the planes disappearance was some kind of variation of the Egypt Air event and I still think that is what happened. Calling in the Bureau seems like a desperate hail Mary pass to me unless they are thinking the way I am and need to pry into the crews lives. No doubt the Bureau is damn good at that.

We know about black holes from the experiments at cern.

There is absolutely zero evidence or reason to think this was a real cause. Im astonished it even made the news, it really is about as insane as saying the flying spaghetti monster appeared, lasso-ed it and pull it into its dimension to nibble on the people inside the tin meal ticket. I based this of nothing, just like they did and just as [insanely] credible.

The best and most rational explanation so far is that the electronics messed up and or a fire (mostly the smoke from it) filled the cockpit and the pilots passed out before they could warn anyone. Another good one is that the electronics malfunctioned and the pilot had to turn off all non life supporting gadgets off but was unable to find a place to land and smashed into the sea at 600mph.

miraculous, un-provable, magic black holes was not the cause.

i agree, thats why i think its madness to make up completely illogical reasons while there is an actual, provable, real war about to start and yet this tripe is on the TV screen!

Maybe someone in the media can add "The Philadelphia Experiment" to the mix, and the plane is now flying around in the 1950s or something. For anyone with a national platform to talk seriously of it being "swallowed" by a black hole is just giving the gullible public bad science. Next some enterprising capitalist will be marketing "Black Hole Repellent" (and if someone here reads that and says "hmmmmm", remember my 4 percent finders fee when you market it).

Perhaps the "un-provable" was proved. Perhaps even by a weapon. Again, with no actual facts, all theories are fair game in my mind, especially ones that might explain some of the alleged, erratic, ever changing bits of information that are being presented. The theory that we could map he genome or even that it existed was once not provable too.

I understand where you're coming from but we can't discuss war and politics day and night. Sometimes skimming over outlandish theories can lead us in the right direction. And sometimes they're just that, outlandish theories. I'm sure everyone who's involved in the search efforts are doing the best they can.

What I will say is crazy is Mary Schiavo's response to the question.

"It is. A small black hole would suck in our entire universe, so we know it's not that. The Bermuda Triangle is often weather and 'Lost' is a TV show."

Really? A small black hole sucking in our entire universe?

Yeap, movies like Donnie Darko just feed the imagination, look at religion, not one provable fact for ANY of them and yet people line up for centuries to join in.

I think the world is actually going mad.

The entire point of this rant is that wild speculation is a waste of time.

Yes we can talk politics, cats stuck in trees and who won the last nascar event - and we SHOULD because these are real things, till any evidence of the plane is found its a non-topic and just feeds this insane delusion that we do know everything and anything is possible. Its not.

I disagree. I don't think that proposing alternate theories is ever a waste of time. What if what happened to the plane was not a mainstream theory? No one would ever know. The most intelligent people in the world brainstorm possibilities, and then eliminate them. Not a waste of time, but smart.

It is not the smart, but the ignorant, that deny alternative theories chances to be explored before they are. If they are not the case, we find out soon enough.

no one has ever proven the phenomenon so why on earth would it be relivent.

terrorists are real

engine faults, mechanical failures are real.

pilots having heart attacks, are real.

Why would somthing thats never ever been seen proved or replicated would be the cause of this?

You really might as well blame underpants gnomes. cant prove a negative!

I don't see how it is an issue. If people are so sure it didn't happen, show reasoning behind it, does anyone actually know the physics why it wasn't possible? Show it. Open and shut case, then. But not a waste of time to speculate, and certainly not a crime.

I don't think a miniature black hole was behind the missing flight, but then again, I did no research into the possibility, either.

I am on board with the theory that it could be a terrorist test to see if they could disable tracking systems on jets before a second hijacking.

Well you are correct in saying that all things must be considered. I agree, its not good to rule out everything, but then theres also no reason to include things that literally have never been proved. And if it was a magic black hole how would anyone prove it anyway?

Occam's razor. Stick with things we actually know and know how to investigate before you start making up wild fantasys.

If we still dont know what happend to the flight ten years from now, we can start to investigate the more bazaar reasons.

Some of the press must be members of ATS! There is more evidence for the existence of Alien visitation than black holes so, in theory, the plane being "abducted" by a large alien mothership is more plasauble.....hmmm.

Enough of that nonsense. IMHO : you have a plane full of people with mobiles. If there was a problem you can be damned sure the passengers would be texting and phoning. We know from previous plane problems that passengers use their mobiles when there is trouble. Even if no connection could be made the text message would sit in the phone waiting to be sent and as soon as a mast came close the text would be transmitted. So, since we have had no messages whatsoever then this means the plane was never anywhere near any masts when it came down, this puts it in the middle of the Ocean OR it came down over land but all the passengers were dead NB ALL of them which means a very quick mass death before anyone can reach for their mobile.

So what is feasible:
A. Plane flies out over the sea.
B. Kill everyone instantly before landing it.

The plane is downed in the Indian Ocean somewhere. It is a huge area to search and you would have more chance with a proverbial needle and a haystack unless there is some indication of where it is.

What a boring explanation, plane goes down at sea......and that's the problem no orgasms with that explanation so the doom porn merchants need to invent wacky theories get off on !!!!!

I will give the doom porn folks one little page 3 : why did it come down in the ocean and why did it change course.

Holy crap with rational thinking like that you will never make it as a news anchor, how sad

Fully agree, for a plane to disappear like that after a course change, its either a hijacking gone wrong, catastrophic electrical failure or even somthing as simple as a bird strike or mechanical failure casuing explosive decompression (not that thats likely due to the altitude but more viable than a damned magic black hole)
