I'd imagine with three or more that were spaced far enough apart, you could use them to triangulate on a target. However, creating a fire control system that would take inputs from three or more sensors that were miles apart and use the data in real time to compute a fire control solution is something else. I don't think that's possible with this system. It would have to use some sort of wireless communication between the sensors and that would surely be jammed.

The company that built this sensor went out of business in 1998. The system was designed in the late 80's/early 90's and we're just now seeing wireless communications capable of transmitting that much data in real time.

NO that is DEFINATELY not what system I ment..... my picture is a jeep! very small and easily mobiele!

I got alot of info about it but cant give it to you all now but will in a short periot of time! sry

Why not? Is it secret or what?

No, but it will take a while, dont worry I will put it!

These days there must be very good jammers that can be put on a F-16, F15, F-18, ect ect that allow it to "dodge" survice-to-air missile's right?
If so who cares who/what shoots at the damn plane, as long as it cannot be hit by, you know!

like the Awac's has the most advanged ECM (I gues this means jamming devices) so put some of those on a "regular" militairy aircraft and make sure it cannot be hit!

Don't we all wish that were true, even AWAC’s can be shot down by missiles there is no magical ECM systems that can protect you 100% of the time.
Most fighter jets have flares and some radar jamming systems however new modern missiles are getting harder and harder to stop, so as of now if one missile doesn't get you the second one will.

thats crappy, but someone in here said that the AWAC's has the most advanged ECM, CM, ect ect systems on-board so it cannot be hit even when fired uppon!

I don't believe the guy or gal said that the AWACS can't be shot down because of some magical fail-proof ECM system. I believe what they meant is that its ECM is very advanced and makes it a little harder for it to be hit by incoming missles. The AWACS is actually a very easy target, however, it's sort of like an aircraft carrier. It's surrounded by fighter planes that receive their targeting from the AWACS which can detect threats from hundreds of miles away. Plus, AWACS usually does not fly directly into hostile territory, it circles around it.

If ECM was that good, there would be little need for the F/A-22 or any other stealth program for that matter.

When you light off a jammer you make your presence known for hundreds of miles. Not too stealthy. ECM can be devistating to a radar, but they are generally built to counter a specific radar. If you have two radar locations that operate on different frequencies on jammer cannot jam oth of them.

I was part of the AWACS discussion you talked about. The AWACS has great ECM and chaff to counter incomming radar guided missiles and flares to counter IR missiles. It has ECCM measures to defeat other jammers. The problem with attacking an AWACS is that you have to get close enough to it to fire at it. The AWACS will see you a long time before you see it and will vector fighters to intercept the incoming aircraft before they can fire at it.

ture ture.. nowadays a "loose missile" mostly implies a def kill..

allright, if its so easy to detect then, fire NON guided missiles at it, HELL, fire a small nuke at it, THAT MUST DO DAMAGE
!

and what does ECM, CM, ECCM exactly mean?

None guided missile? Do you men like a fire and forget missile or what?

ECM-Electronic Countermeasures

ECCM-Electronic Counter Countermeasure

CM-Cruise Missile

WTF???

I ment a non-guided missile because there is no way to stop it, unless another missile hits it, which is hard because it doesn't send ANY signals!
if im right!

And do you plan to fly directly behind an AWAC’s and fire this missile hoping it hits something? Your unguided missile would not work against aircraft.

The chinese FT2000 system is the only one of it's kind in the world and probably the biggest threat to any AWACS aircraft dubbed the "AWACS killer"

no of course not, what I mean is that the AWACs is very "visable" to radar systems due to either the ECMs on board or the Radar of the AWACs and then of course, the thing is HUGE and not stealth like the B2...
So having said that, as soon as a groundbase radar detects it, fire a non-guided missile at it!
capish miss?

and lucratius do you have of those sites only with different countries, like Russia or Iran UK (whatever)....??

YOU have a .00000000000000000001 chance of hitting an AWACS or anything for that matter with an unguided missle. ECM is electronic countermeasures. ECM can stand a for wide host of offensive/defensive electronic warfare systems. As I said earlier, attacking an AWACS is like attacking an aircraft carrier. It's surrounded by a web of fighter planes that are guided by it's powerful command and control systems. To shoot an AWACS down you would have to be able to engage it at extreme ranges or somehow fly through the fighter screen. And once again, the AWACS flys at a stand off range from the actual area of hostility.

And "PeanutButterandJellyTime" is right when he says that ECM betrays stealth. When you use ECM, it makes you light up on radar, the point of it is too make you harder to shoot at but it is not for lack of a better word...sneaky. In my opinion, the ECM on most fighter jets is just a last minute pray to God back up for protection. EA-6Bs can jam powerfully and I'm sure an aircraft like a B-52 or Air Force One have very respectable jamming capapabilities. But the fact of a matter is, is that if a missle is fired at you, you are pretty much screwed. Thank the lord for the F/A-22 which has the best chance of all or surviving.

Hey people, check this out
en.wikipedia.org...
The ultimate AWACS killer. 400km range! You can get an AWACS with this without having to get tangled up with fighter escorts. I'm not sure how the project is going right now. It says here the missile uses inertial guidance at first then active guidance for terminal approach, but I also heard this missile uses passive homing at first to get to the AWACS so it doesn't get noticed too early, then it probably goes active.

btw most modern ARH missiles have HOJ, so most ECMs are ineffective against them. They just fly right towards where the ECM emitter is emiting from. ECM might be pretty effective against SARH missiles but they're getting less popular.
