One night, a friend called.
An ad had just been placed on Craigslist for 75 - 5 gallon buckets of paint for free. No one answered the phone number on the ad but my friend wanted to hopefully get the paint. In the ad was a picture of a two car attached garage with the doors open and 75 - 5 gallon buckets of paint.
The address was about a half hour drive and my friend said he knew exactly where it was.
So we drove there about 9:00PM and ended up in a neighborhood and cruised slowly down the street looking for the house number, or IDing the house in the picture.

We could not find the house.
After repeated sweeps looking for the address, I finally asked to see his phone, which had the ad up.

After close examination, I found that he had read it as NW when it was NE.

So we headed East but the street did not go straight to the address. The road did not go through completely and we had to zig and zag and finally by the cross streets, we knew we were close.

As we approached the street the address was on, where we needed to take a right, there was no road. Just a fenced...
Cemetery.

We were less than a block from where the address should be and then I realized the strangest thing.
This was the Cemetery where my Brother is buried.

I walked up to the fence and eyeballing the distance to the "address" put it spot on top of my Brothers Grave Stone.

I was spooked and when I told my friend "right over there where the address should be is my Brother's Grave, and it was exactly there.

He freaked and couldn't get back into the car fast enough.

Still after some time it gives me the creeps.

What I got from that story is that you noticed the garage door open in the ad, so you went at 9pm in the hopes of snatching some free paint? And maybe your brother stopped you from doing that? A set up maybe?

Is that about right?

Perhaps the free paint was some kind of ruse and your brother spared you the terrible fate of being murdered and cannibalized by the paint's owner.

Couple of questions...why didn't you phone the advertiser of the paint and find out exactly where he was. He or she might have said, they were the opposite side of the cemetery.

Would only be really creepy if your brother had been a painter and decorator in life tbh.

Seeing as you only realised this was near to your brothers grave, didn't you go to visit your brothers grave very often then?

Maybe it was a hint to get you to bring some flowers, beers (porno mag?) or something.

Perhaps the no answering did not deter my friend from attempting to get free paint and he took the trip hoping he would be the first person there if they were not answering, others would possibly also not get through by phone.

And since I do know where the Cemetery is from I-5, but at night from the west It did not correlate.

And yes, I do leave flowers and maintain his and others gravestones and encroaching grass, etc..

I also realize that if the area of the Cemetery at my brothers grave is where NE with that address should be, then it most likely is NW and the poster typo E instead of W. as they are next to each other. (just realized that)

However, At the time, it was pretty strange.
And who knows, maybe it was a setup and I was diverted from beyond from some ungodly fate.
Now, I would think it was a typo and we just couldn't be sure what house it was in NW.

Even if the typo lead me to the my Brothers grave, the odds seem rather large being that there are only two addresses in the world that changing a W to an E would lead me there.

With NO link to the Craigslist advertisement (questionable T&C), or even a screenshot of the advertisement with corresponding screenshot of Google Maps demonstrating the address as a grave marker, I suspect this thread should be in the Short Stories section.

Another pro-tip: If I wanted, because some of these kids annoy me, I could post a Craigslist listing for FREE bicycles, and take pictures of the childrens bicycles laying all over a neighbor's yard and even sometimes into the street.
Doesn't mean someone can legally just drive by and pick them up if a bogus non-answering phone number was listed.
