Arresting Tony Blair: Who has the bigger case - the political left or the right?

There are polemics in writing and clips that either call for the arrest of the former British Prime Minister at the moment, or that threaten some kind of arrest and trial for treason in the future.

I'm not sure one person can be arrested and tried on such divergent charges at once, so perhaps it is time to decide who has the greater cause?

According to one view Tony Blair should be tried for war-crimes in Iraq.
www.arrestblair.org...

I suppose that would be the view that holds him accountable for casualties in Iraq, and the invasion of Muslim countries as a kind of genocide.
This would be a leftist or Islamist view, that regards any Western intervention as a general war against Islam.

The second view is a right-wing view, that holds Mr. Blair and the entire Labor Party responsible for importing Islam and the "third world" into Britain.
This view is at times unapologetically racist and Islamophobic.
Their point is that treason laws can be brought back, and Mr. Blair and his party will be tried as "traitors" one day.

It's all unlikely to happen, of course.
I'm sure Robert Mugabe would like to see Tony Blair and Clare Short tried too, since he blamed them for causing the land repossession in Zimbabwe.
But yeah, I guess it's best not to be a dictator, or to represent something "dictatorial" when pointing fingers.

Since both left and right-wing radicals want a piece of Mr. Blair, I'm wondering who should get the lion's share?

I suppose the right could argue that meddling in foreign affairs was a mistake, and that money could rather have been spent on countries securing their borders.

Maybe we let them have half each. Everybody's happy, except Tony Blair. People on the left also can blame Tony Blair for turning the Labour Party away from its traditional working class roots and into some neo liberal monstrosity.

That would be Blair The Middle East Peace Envoy that spoke so eloquently at Ariel Sharon's funeral recently.
Or Blair the WMD finger pointer.
Or Blair the Socialist with a property portfolio that would put your average right wing business mogul to shame.
For a supposed Socialist, this guy makes more per hour speaking than the average public sector worker does annually.
Oh yes, Blair, whose wife once said she could understand why a young man would want to grow up to be a suicide bomber, for the wife of a head of state, some things are better left unsaid.
Still, that is just my impression of the guy.

The left or the right?
No just go down the middle, I`d use an axe.
He is a war criminal without a doubt. I would love to see him in the Hague its what he deserves.

You're all forgetting one very small but significant point :

There was a free vote on the involvement of Britain in the Iraq war. That means all the politicians who voted yes are just as culpable. Now here's the real bummer , the majority of votes FOR were cast by the Tories NOT Labour.

I'm sure all those who voted yes are keeping shtum.......

Eh up Lad, dost though appen to have such short memories up North that you forget who presented the case for war to Parliament based on the WMD 'intelligence' and someone else's contention about who,was responsible for 9-11 support!

Yes you are right in what you say tyke. Every one of them voted for it from all parties. Galloway and Clare Short? Were about the only ones to veto it. I am sick to death of these lying two faced back stabbing thieving MPs. We need to clear the lot of them out of there and elect some honest decent people.

You are mistaking Western intervention for a general war against Islam!!!
Extremist Islamic beliefs they said...
While stating outright that their Christian God said this was right to do so, to which they fudamentally destroy Iraq with WMDs...
Is this the biggest case of political irony in history???...
Because up to now I fail to find one that trumps this!!!

Either that, or you are conveniently, phrasing the specific sentence intriguingly craftily & saying it was Western intervention & only Muslims and "Leftists" consider the alternative!!!
In which case, nobody asked for Western intervention, especially against Iraq!!!
Oh wait maybe Saudi Arabia might have off the record! Who knows?

However as someone who is neither left, nor right, and not exactly central since I pretty much disagree with most government decisions & proposed policies... I don't consider myself to be on the spectrum at all, I'm sure many others feel the same...

...I can still whole-heartlessly say he deserves to be tried for accepting & pushing falsified "intelligence" of WMDs, as well as ordering the slaughter of innocent civilians!!!

But I won't be labelled to certain "sides", that don't exist, for the simple fact it is actually just common sense & a moral stance rather than politicism!

Everything else is conjecture so far... and the outcome needs more proof!
But those two things are actually fact based, and justice should prevail!!!

I agree with what you said about Mugabe though!

"Better the devil you know"???... well we know both of these devils & they should be dealt with accordingly... as any regular schmo would be if we were faced with the same accusations!!!

Peace. (Envoy)

Indeed they did...
However they were not told of the falsified WMD "intelligence" ...until after the fact...
...fiction...
... excuse me, even I'm confused as to which is grammatically correct in this case!

Mr.Blair, who if I'm correct is also in charge of deployment despite such a vote, decided he wanted to flaunt this "Intel" all over the gaff!!!
That would take responsibility straight back to Mr.Blair's doorstep...
Whichever one he is closest to I suppose, it's hard to find which mansion he resides in day in & day out!!!

Peace.

George Galloway is such a legend to be fair (if we forget celebrity big brother)...
And on the frontline with pushing a campaign to bring Mr.Blair to trial...

If only we did have some decent politicians to help us out, it is quite saddening that Mr.Galloway is probably the only exception to the rule here in the Divided Kingdom!!!

Peace.
