To me it looks like a magnetic filament which is looping back upon itself. The angle of the camera and the filament losing mass at the top of the ark gives a false visual representation of what is actually going on. S&F for the beautiful pics

Maybe it is illuminating concentrated dark matter blobs. Maybe it causes an inter-dimensional rift where we can see something that is not usually visible. Maybe there is a lot that we cannot yet comprehend yet. Oh, that's right, we need hard evidence backed by what we already know which is very little about in actuality....that's life. Twenty years from now maybe the answer to your question may be known.
