Ted Cruz, his current standings on the Obama-Care have placed him in the so-called limelight as of late. I took it upon myself to do a bit of research
to put this guy under the microscope preemptively as I have a feeling we will be hearing more and more about him in due time.
Our good old friend wiki says his parents, Eleanor Elizabeth Wilson Darragh (mother) and Rafael Bienvenido Cruz (father), were both involved in the
oil game in Calgary, Canada at the time of his birth in 1970.
During his teenage years, his father fought for the communist Fidel Castro in the Cuban Revolution. The young Rafael Cruz claims he was unaware that
Castro was a communist and fled to Austin, Texas here in the USA in 1957. Today, Ted Cruz's father is a pastor in Carrollton, Texas. He became and
American citizen in 2005.
It is important to understand his father's connections and beliefs to the communist Fidel Castro, it gives a valuable insight on the influences given
to Ted Cruz.
In 1992 Ted Cruz would graduate Princeton College. After Princeton, Ted Cruz would continue his schooling at Harvard Law School, graduating in
Getting into his career life:
In 1998, Ted Cruz was a private counsel for congressman John Boehner during his lawsuit against congressman Jim McDermott for releasing a tape
recording of one of John Boehner's telephone conversations.
1 Year later in 1999 Ted Cruz joined the Bush-Cheney campaign as a domestic policy adviser, advising in areas such as civil justice, criminal justice,
constitutional law, immigration, and government reform.
If you can recall the Bush Senior presidential run, then you can imagine the domestic policies this guy stands for.
Once Bush had secured the race, Ted Cruz was hired on as the associate deputy attorney general in the U.S. Justice Department and as the director of
policy planning at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.
Cruz served as Texas Solicitor General from 2003-2008, where he would draft the amicus brief, which declared that the D.C. handgun ban should be
struck down as infringing upon the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
After leaving the Solicitor General position in 2008, he worked in a private law firm in Houston, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, often representing
corporate clients, until he was sworn in a U.S. Senator from Texas in 2013, where he continues his work.
I think it is also important to mention his wife, Heidi Nelson Cruz, currently works for Goldman Sachs.
Today we see Ted Cruz based on media spin and current events, a little digging around in the past can shed some light on the truth of the matter.
I've outlined some main aspects of this guy's working life, although here has much more accomplishments under his belt other than what I've posted
Personally, I like the guy based on what I've learned about him. He's causing stirs from both sides of congress for his outspokenness, but I feel
like that's exactly what we need in office.
