Some of you might remember the Euclideon from 2 years ago where they claimed they could produce a graphics engine
that could handle infinite detail in a games engine that could run directly from the computers CPU rather than using an expensive graphics card. After
demonstration this technology the received the largest grant ever given by the Australian government for a start up company.. It essentially work by
using a very advanced search algorithm that only calculates one point of data for every pixel on your screen rather than every polygon in a 3d model.
There was a lot of skepticism at the time about these claims especially from a few major games producers. Well 2 years later and they still haven't
managed to come up with a working games engine but they have produced something that to my mind might just be the next stage of development for
applications like Google maps. Its a system that can let you fly around 3d worlds of infinite detail on a home computer or laptop without an expensive
graphics card. The system works so well at handling the data it can even work over the internet on slow connections.
If any of the major players like Google or Apple cant reproduce this technology i sure they will end up buying this company out. Seeing as the guy who
invented the system used to stack shelves in a supermarket its a real rags to riches story.
