Militants to Target Iraqi Voters.

A GROUP calling itself the "Iraqi Resistance" today threatened to attack polling stations across the country and harm anyone taking part in landmark elections promised by January.

"Voting centres will become the target of the soldiers of the message of God," it said in a statement handed out at mosques in Baghdad.

The group charged that the polls were "aimed at legitimising the occupation by the Americans and extending their influence so that they can pillage the riches of this country".
