The best answers you will find in regards to side effects will come from casaa.org

As for nic levels, if your using the "big tobacco" brands like blu or others advertised on tv you will find about the average or higher levels than a cigarette, the average pack a day smoker intakes abouy 18 mg of nicotine per day

There are alternatives though that allow you drop down to about 3mg or even 0mg but this depends on the type of e-cig/e-liquid your using?
