No it is all code named by design.

Prism=a curved piece of glass to focus on a spot.
Looking glass
Fire eye

Prism, looking glass and fire eye are all programs set up by the NSA and InQTel.

For more information on this go to this post I made in another thread and read that post and the ones that follow.

Sorry folks, things are getting so Orwellian and absurd that all one can do is try to find humour whenever one can.

Thanks awefully. Your kind explaination is greatly appreciated. I obviously made a vain attempt at humour with reference to the "Greatest Wank Job Of All Time".

Most people are still wondering what is going on. Well I would just say dig into this guy. Robert F. Lentz President & CEO, Cyber Security Strategies, LLC He is NSA and is tied to all the programs they use for spying and is usually backed by InQTel or one of the other CIA buying start up fund agencies.

I concur, regarding the timeline and what intelligence was gathered, and how it was used or not used. It is patently clear that this sweeping data collection has very little to do with terrorism. Any "real" organization would not be using the internet (or mobile devices) for their grand plans... and even if they were, it would be in the form of code or code words to communicate. That renders all of this other data collection void except when used for manipulation or financial gain (personal opinion).

It should have been exceptionally clear to the public that they/we needed to voice our disapproval at the passing of the Patriot Act. Since it was shoved through during the touchy-feely "America!!!! Woooooo!" "You're with us or against us!!" madness, it would have been difficult to oppose when introduced. Most Americans weren't/aren't even aware of what liberties they gave up. Again. Complacency is the worst possible reaction from the public.

To understand better you have to realize the telco companies have been in bed with the government for decades.
Codes ?! Most telcom companies have test labs and get government grants for R and D. the government knows every program snd code before it is put to real time use. Get real people, where do you think the internet came from? Research, development and FEDERAL GRANT MONEY .

Yes, the problem that needed solved by the creation of the internet was in the defense department.

That's where it's roots are.

In October 1962, Licklider was hired by Jack Ruina as Director of the newly established Information Processing Techniques Office (IPTO) within DARPA, with a mandate to interconnect the United States Department of Defense's main computers at Cheyenne Mountain, the Pentagon, and SAC HQ. There he formed an informal group within DARPA to further computer research. He began by writing memos describing a distributed network to the IPTO staff, whom he called "Members and Affiliates of the Intergalactic Computer Network". As part of the information processing office's role, three network terminals had been installed: one for System Development Corporation in Santa Monica, one for Project Genie at the University of California, Berkeley and one for the Compatible Time-Sharing System project at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Licklider's identified need for inter-networking would be made obvious by the apparent waste of resources this caused.

....If you are responding to my post, bringing up codes was to make a point. (When this business first popped up on the public radar, it was explained that the NSA was using keywords, etc. to flag questionable data.) With government R&D, high level tech experts, etc., I'm sure America has it covered as far as infiltrating terrorist organizations, and it doesn't take massive wiretapping/data collection to do it.

Just like the TSA/airport security is a joke. Citizens have to jump through hoops and get groped, while there are dozens of security gaps elsewhere in the entire international flight matrix.

What don't people understand ? The government grants it's self the authority to " Break the law, to enforce the law".
The government knows what "Everyone is saying, texting and emailing even the president" The public is only told what the government wants to tell the public, anything important will be withheld under that term "NATIONAL SECURITY."

Once again people seem to forget that all forms of "E"[ that's electronic] communication are monitored at all times 24/7 by NSA looking for key words and phrases, it is when you use them you are flagged er marked for further looking in to, what to know how it works just look up Spy factory PBS NOVA from 2010 www.pbs.org... form the link

The warrantless wiretapping controversy has taken a few twists and turns since The Spy Factory premiered last winter on NOVA. The show, which will be rebroadcast tonight on most PBS stations, reported on the National Security Agency's surveillance of vast streams of data--phone conversations, emails, faxes--from AT&T's regional switching center in San Francisco. But the biggest reversal came in March, when a federal judge ruled that domestic surveillance is illegal without court approval.
but in the name of National Security They er Them... NSA can and do just that, carry on domestic surveillance with out a warrant. and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act." aka (FISA) is just a ruse to confuse you think your safe from Them the Spy Factory www.pbs.org...

Just because something has been going on in the past doesn't mean it is right or that we should tolerate it. Sadly that is probably the mindset of young America.
