So what is The Rake?

Is it just a made up modern day internet legend that no one really believes or is it something with real basis in reality?

I'm sure everyone knows the story, and the 'fact' that any sightings of the rake are quashed and all reports about his creature are supposedly removed from the internet.

Have a google and you don't get very much, just the same story or article over and over.

So is this because it is a piece of made up mega nonsense or because it is possibly real and the powers that be want it kept down to stop the panic?

Has anyone ever seen 'The Rake' or 'A Rake'?

Try googling "the rake" - there's lots of stuff on it

Seems to be more of a paranormal thing than a zoological thing...

Another creepazoid, you guys are scary.

In my humble opinion, every mythos or legend has some truth to it.

So this 'rake' reference is from being raked by claws? Bodies found with horrendous claw marks on them? Could be big cats. Who wants to get raked to death by them?

the creature (or something similar to it) also makes an appearance in the animated film "children who chase lost voices from below"

It's one of the most poorly written borefests I've ever read. Even that Slenderman crap is more fun/scarier and that is painful to watch at times due to the 'acting'.

I would hate to see that thing popping up next to me on a dark road or something. Its just eerie looking.

Seems like a boogeyman on steroids to me. Atleast from what i've looked up. I'll do some more searching. S&F.

The Rake was invented by the internet. There's an entire Know Your Meme which details the creation and spread of the Rake myth from its conception, to current incarnations. Of more interest, I think, is the Dover Demon, a legitimate cryptozoological encounter from 1977. Here's what the Dover Demon looks like:

Very similar to the Rake. Perhaps some influence there?

This is for the people who like the three-eyes, no apparent mouth, pale skin one. what we have got so far Humanoid, about six feet tall when standing, but usually crouches and walks on all fours. It has very pale skin. The face is blank.
