This site has some great checklists:

beprepared.com...

All are free downloads.

The "emergency kit checklist" is pretty much a good BOB list.

These lists are great for non-SHTF emergencies as well.

Mr. Gazrok,

I'm curious if you have shared your kit on here before? If so, could you link me?

If not, might you do so at some point?

I'd be interested.

I have, but I think it was in a reply to a thread. I'll see if I can dig it up and U2U you a link. Remind me please, if I don't within a few days.

EDIT: Found the original doc I have for it, so here it is. Keep in mind, this is in my truck, so there are some things in my truck (noted as (Truck)), that I won't necessarily take with me, if I have to abandon the vehicle... I list my gear by category. Note, this is to get me from my work (which is an hour drive) to home, so planned for at least 3 days, but preferably, I'd be in my truck.

BACKPACK - (Green) Small, with lots of padding, waist strap also, lots of pockets and places to clip, holds below:

WATER - (2) Bottles water, Metal Canteen with Metal Cup (Army surplus style), Water Straw, Water Purification Tabs. / Water Jug (Truck)

FOOD - 2 cans Canned food (heat and serve, Beef stew), 2 MREs (Pepper Steak), 3 Ration Bars, Folding Sterno Stove (really just a stand for the small can)

WEAPONS - Pistol (.22) with Ammo (.22 is easy to carry a lot of ammo) in hip holster, Good Gerber Knife (leg sheath), Machete (sheath on left) (I'd prefer a better pistol, but this is what I currently have)

TOOLS - Gerber Multi-Tool, Swiss Army Knife, Duct Tape (Camo), Wire Saw, Folding Saw, Wire, Para-cord, Fishing Wire, / Tool Bag (Truck)

FIRE - 2 Lighters, Water/Windproof Matches, Flint & Steel

INFORMATION - Map of local area, hand-crank radio/flashlight/cell-charger, Survival book (in ziploc bag, mostly for referencing plants, inserted color pics of edibles), Compass, Map with multiple routes home (indicated loot targets for food, fuel, weapons, medicine, etc.)

UTENSILS - Camping Mess Kit, Utensil tool (fork, spoon, knife), Can Opener (military style)

LIGHT - Flashlight (Maglite), spare batteries, keychain light, baseball cap light, colored glo-sticks (not going into detail, but recognition system, certain combos mean certain things, like shoot anyone with me, or everything is cool, etc.)

SHELTER - Small Dome Tent (Camo, this is actually pretty small, and fits easily under pack), Emergency Blanket (foil kind), Small Blanket (rolled in with tent), / Camo Netting (in Truck, to cover truck if I have to leave it)

BARTER - $100 Cash (10 1‘s, 2 5‘s, 2 10‘s, 3 20‘s), Cigarettes (in a metal tin), $20 in Quarters (two rolls, which can also be held, making a more solid fist)

FIRST AID - Small First Aid Kit (Plastic Box in pack)
Assorted Band-Aids, Butterfly Bandages, Antibiotic Ointment,
Alcohol Wipes, Tylenol/Advil, etc., Snakebite Kit,
Ace like Wrap, Scalpel/Razors , Med Tape, Scissors,
Tweezers, Forceps, Dental Floss,
Insect Repellent, Sting Relief, Super Glue,
Sunburn Relief/Sunscreen,

COMMUNICATION - Cell Phone (likely won't work), Short Range Walkie (so I can tell my wife when I'm about home), spare batteries, Whistle, Binoculars, Small Dry-Erase Board (8”x10”)/Marker, Deck of Cards, Pad/Pen, Dice

HYGIENE - Travel size stuff
Washcloth Travel Toothbrush Travel Brush
Body Wash Hand Sanitizer TP (flat, small roll)
Baby Wipes Collapsing Cup Bar Soap

CLOTHING - Shirt, Socks, Bandana (tons you can do with a bandana), Baseball Cap, Rain Poncho, Windbreaker Jacket (the cap and jacket are in the truck, not the backpack)

FUEL - Siphon Kit (Truck) (Truck itself has 3 gas tanks, the 2 standard, and a 151 gallon auxiliary tank) It's a diesel truck, so I could siphon out of even a big rig, but of course, not most cars. Empty 5 gallon gas can in truck also.

Beer? Check. Beef jerky? Check. Shotgun? Check.

Ok I'm good.

Thanks for the lists. I'll be sure to check them out.

minor note, but my route maps home end at a certain point, NOT at my actual home (just in case). Once to that certain point, I wouldn't need a map, of course, and anyone following it would not come to my house. Don't have your route map lead all the way to your safe place!
