Nothing personal, Akragon, but I think the star / flag nonsense should be abandoned.

it encourages the posting of rubbish and long threads about rubbish, and we're not junior school children.... are we ? Do we need little rewards ?

Not to deny there are some excellent contributors out there, of course.

My silver border appeared and disappeared a few times after I first received it. It has stayed now for a while so methinks I've crossed the threshold and entered the kingdom of elites now

A silver border means you are in the top 100 posters. There are others in the same rankings range. If they post more than you, or get a "hit" and amass a large number of flags and stars, they can overtake you and move you down from, say, #99 to #101 and the border goes away.

Man I guess a silver boarder means I got to go outside more...

How many different colored borders are there? How does a person get one?

Since WATS is calculated based on your stars, flags AND posts, there is one other way to raise your score without having to strain yourself by posting good quality content to the site. You can make lots and lots of posts. Even if they don't get any stars, they'll eventually raise your WATS score.

I recommend This thread for anyone who wants to go that route.
