Obamacare means hiring boom for 'navigators"

www.americanthinker.com

One thing always puzzled me about the state insurance exchanges that are supposed to sell insurance plans under Obamacare; what happens if you don't understand something or need other assistance? Will they have people that you can call and help just like, you know, a regular insurance company or something?

Fear not, America. The Obama administration is set to hire tens of thousands of "navigators" who will help you get all signed up for Obamacare:Tens of thousands of health care professionals, union workers and community activists hired as "navigators" to help Americans choose Obamaca

I'm for quality healthcare, for all, as well; but does it have to be so complex and expensive?! $20-45/hr. just for these interpreters to try to make sense of the govts' plans--which they probably won't understand anywhoo..

Has anyone considered lean and/or efficiency?

Sounds like another IRS to me as well

Thoughts?

it is going to be bad for the economy. They hire all of these people, paid for by the government, which gets its income from the rest of the population, so in short this is going to be a pointless case of redundancy on the part of the government to force a population to take something it does not want or desire, as it does not do the original job that it was suppose to do. All that it is going to happen is that a lot of people are going to get fed up with the entire system that they will not be able to use or will not cover them when they need it, or can not afford it as their paychecks are either already too small or just barely making ends meet.

I'm simply not understanding how a govt that is in *massive* debt can afford to pay all of these extra hired-on government workers unless they are "contracting" with private companies, insurance companies, or the like?

Definitely bad for the economy unless there is something hidden, not revealed behind this.

Definitely not good timing for the country.

A more tangled web being spun, I'm afraid.

Let's wait until this healthcare plan kicks in. So far parts of this healthcare plan has been found to be favorable for students who have been able to stay on their parents healthcare system to age 26. Preventing insurance companies from dropping you or denying you coverage is also a positive aspect of the plan. There's too much doom and gloom about this program and it hasn't even completely kicked in yet.

Sure they're will be glitches in the system and problems that will arise, but that happens with any new program that's implemented. People claimed about medicare when it was being planned, it's now a life savor for many senior citizen's who are on fixed incomes.

We need to have more compassion and consideration for people who lack healthcare or no coverage at all. We need to stand along side the rest of the free world that offer healthcare coverage to their citizens. It's disgraceful that we turn our backs on anyone who's sick and needs help. It a basic human right.

Please review my OP above.

I'm in total agreement with you that *quality* healthcare should be available to the young, the elderly, and the already ill.

My husband's parents were both relatively young elders & healthy, living abroad in their homeland (foreign country to US). Despite their country's accessible service, & on top of my deceased father-in-law's retirement health service...they each in turn had to wait tooooo long! They are no longer with us, and I think that system was partly to blame.

Back on topic:

I don't know if you are from the US, but I don't want to see a similar circumstance of bureautactic red-tape happening here more than it already does.

The fact that these navigators are having to be employed is a big red flag in my eyes...Can't the over $ 1 billion dollars/yr in their costs be applied to patient health care, instead???

Why not hire 10 Million "navigators"?

Pay them $40,000 a year?

What's wrong with that?

It would be legal. Wouldn't it?

It's backdoor socialism.

Navigators in California will get paid $$$ big bucks to perform a job that has

NO accountability. Do it well. Do it poorly. Your choice. Have fun and vote

for Obama cronies! Guaranteed paycheck!

I give Bill O'Reilly an A+ on his calm opinion on these yet to be hired ' Navigators'.

He made that progressive look like a fool.

If you listen to the entire Bill O'Reilly clip, you will see him clearly spell out the truth

that the ' navigators ' are jobs with no accountability and a guaranteed income.

That is socialism.

In order to push through a perverted ' solution ' like this you must have a rotten economy.

as much as i'd like to, i can't, sorry. computer limitations, no video or audio.
got a narrative ? i'd be more than willing to read about it

i would tend to agree but the economy isn't a rotten as ppl would like to think it is.
remember 1974 ?

Yes, 1974 was bad. I also remember the Jimmy Carter economic malaise.

It's hard to ignore or dismiss numbers like this:

There is no where to run and no where to hide when a number like 496,000 jumps

out onto the front page of newspapers.

Labor workforce participation rate is at a 30 year low!

Wow! Time for a diversion. Lets bomb North Korea!

It reminds me of that movie Wag the Dog starring Robert De Niro.

- Send the B-3 Bomber to Albania! - ..... - They have the bomb! -

This brings only one thought for me, waste and abuse that is what the government so call "services" done by special groups pay back for campaign help turns always to be.

All those Obamamites that help with Obama campaign will be getting a piece of the pie on this so call job giveaway.

Waste and abuse, nothing more, and pay back.

And all of these navigators will in effect, be govt employees and know they can't be fired so they have no incentive to do the job right. That's why govt projects always fail.

Let's hope more states nullify obozocare as it is clearly unconstitutional. Nowhere does the constitution mention health care and so, by the tenth amendment, it is a state issue.
