If one was to think beyond into the realm of an advanced civilizations technological achievements and specifically manufacturing we might start here www.youtube.com...
as this is the first step in replication of advanced design and specifically in aerospace engineering at its finest.

can you imagine

If done in the vacuum of space with very little to no gravity (space station and crystal development) the impossible is now possible.

lets just imagine how easy it would be to send any craft into the galaxy, lets say to Mars for instance, with a 3d printing processor, we could literally build entire cities anywhere on or within the surface of Mars without the presence of man, so when we arrive, everything is operational. this is truly the future, with unlimited abilities.

it could even build new Superman

S&F. Fascinating new tech. that is only limited by imagination!
Definitely something to look forward to.

@ Violater ... thx for the vids.

Just go a small 100 years into the future, if we go at our current rate, and somehow manage to survive this technological adolescence, and dont completely kill all complex life on the planet, we will either be at, or see the singularity on the horizon, with nano tech.

Maybe even self assembling nanobots, basically like a star trek replicator, that could custom assemble materials at the atomic scale.

This seems like the logical progression for 3d printing to follow, as more and more advances in materials and methods are made.

Which will be very fast, if our currsnt rate is any indicator.

Are you overlooking "Awareness" surrounded by a "Plasma Ball".?

Whoops!

I suspect there are many different "Advanced" Alien species. I wouldn't be surprised if there is an organic based species much like the "Wraith" depicted in Stargate Atlantis.

So it would be difficult to speculate on construction methods in such a broad way. Some species probably use production lines.

Others may use a large box/area where matter can be precisely generated and controlled for the purposes of manufacturing.

Possibilities ^.^

thats true, but in their meager beginnings i see just this method, just as we are still in our infancy and will eventually move up to adolescence

Ive read it's impossible for us to understand how because they are produced with substances we are unaware of...on planets we've never been too...by processes we couldnt possibly understand...as they are millions and perhaps BILLIONS of years ahead of us.

ie: "The Alien Interview" (fictional work...but as such...makes you think and attempts to explain a lot. Free online in PDF format)

PS Us even TRYING to figure it out with our pea-brains compared to them...is like ants trying to build a nuclear reactor..

We have become very good at reverse engineering.

The hull is made out of Aluminium Oxynitride Ceramic.

We figured it all out back around 1980. Now it's 2013. How far do you think we have come?

It's almost 1/2 of a Star Trek Replicator.

Look at something on a computer. Click the icon and prototype eventually arrives.

Maybe they arent even manufactured nor are they "machines"...just becasue thats all we can think of.

Maybe its thought processes. Maybe they are projections...not manufactured "hard" items at all.

Think about that...still, you can only see things with Earthly intellegence in 2013...because that all we know.

What if they are parallel to year 4981?

I hear SpaceshipMax give a 30 warranty on every purchase.

Plus they throw in a free CraftFax.
You never know if that spaceship was in an accident before and someone used bondo to patch it back up.

Otherwise known to Starfleet engineers as "Transparent Aluminium", right?

oh i can absolutely see particle replication, just as we method pouring ceramics and metals and as our materials change the way we manufacture them will change as well......Magic

just think how far alchemy has brought us

Yes, tweak the formula a little and you can make a transparent window for your spacecraft.

Scotty made an aquarium for the humpback whales.

No, they are spacecraft. The Domain crashed one near Datil, NM in July 1947.
One survived. Her name was Airl.

I am super excited about this technology! it is akin to a star trek replicator and the most important invention man has made to date, you could even say its more important than creating a zero-point energy device. As this technology develops it is going to change life as we know it!

TPTB made a huge mistake letting this cat out of the bag... it was bound to happen sooner or later, and there is no stopping it now. They will try to implement ways of preventing people from manufacturing certain things... like $100 notes for example, but you can be sure the hackers and crims will be there working their way around such issues, back-engineering and putting the power back in the people's hands where it should be.

It just has so much potential, being able to custom build and replicate things on a molecular level. Food/drinks, medicine, body parts, everyday objects... the list is endless and you can pretty much throw out the need for money anymore.

This is a major stepping stone in our technological evolution and I imagine or rather hope the next major step will be spiritual technology - devices enabling us to enhance our spiritual abilities and awareness.

The technology, while not able to create anything at the "molecular level", is quite impressive. I make gears and small robotic parts. What you can afford and get in your home is usually limited to 100 microns extrusion layers, but that is ok and the parts need a bit of cleanup when completed. Also, you are presently limited to ABS and PLA plastic and some units also allow a kind of jewelers wax material.

I agree this technology is in the process of going viral, and soon you will be able to order digital build files for those strange plastic parts needed to repair appliances, like couplers, valves, gears, bushings and some complicated pieces as well from the appliance manufacturers, and build them at home! Presently, the technology is dependent on gravity, so a space implementation would require a rather radical new design, but it probably will happen.
