I'm real glad to hear this didn't just die away and get glossed over. It was a very serious series of incidents and they need to be held accountable for what they did.

OAKLAND, Calif. (CN) - Police must face excessive-force claims related to an Occupy protest they dispersed at the University of California, Berkeley, a federal judge ruled.
The protesters claimed to have been engaged in a peaceful protest of tuition hikes and the privatization of public education when officers battered them and used excessive force

(this is the video of some of what is being covered in this)

U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers last week found the allegations sufficient against some officers who were directly involved in alleged beating of protestors, but she dismissed claims against supervisors and others not directly involved.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Department failed to show that its officers were "unwarranted deductions of fact or unreasonable inferences," according to the ruling.

There were many sides and viewpoints both inside and outside of the Occupy camps and overall movement about how things were done or how effective it was or wasn't. One thing I don't think there really can be argument about is that police overstepped themselves with brutality in at least some locations and to some real ugly extremes.

In this case, it appears at least one group will be held to account in the light of day and open court. This should be interesting if they don't settle out first.

Does not really make a difference when you think about it. I mean Occupy as a whole really failed and ran out of steam. But in this case they lost once again.
Occupy attempted to set up and the cops broke it down. If the cops get fired or even get criminal charges it will not matter as OWS was still not able to set up.
For arguments sake (lol) lets say there is some big banker conspiracy and they control everything and will stop at nothing to halt occupy. What difference will the discipline or even criminal charges against a few cops make? It is an illusion of a victory against a false opponent.
