A mother has been arrested after duct-taping her son's face leaving the nose uncovered and sending a picture to his distressed father who contacted the police.

Fearing for his son's safety, Yado contacted Sandusky police and asked officers to check on the boy at Ennis' home.

Ennis told police she was playing around with duct tape with her friend and their kids and that she had wrapped tape over her son's eyes and mouth because they both thought it was funny, according to the police report. Only the boy's nose was left uncovered. She also taped up the head of an 11-year-old girl, according to the police report. The report did not identify the parents of the girl.

Ennis said it was not meant to be hurtful and they were joking around, the report said. Ennis was charged with two counts of child endangering. She pleaded not guilty to the charges and is due back in Sandusky Municipal Court for trial on May 30.

If the mother and child really were just goofing around, then the father and police department has over reacted.

This seems more than likely harmless fun that has fallen foul of an estranged father and a nanny state mentality.

I had a friend once who was asked by the kids she was watching to duck tape them up, binding their hands and feet while laying on the floor. Right at the precise moment, their parents showed up early to pick up the kids... You can imagine it was a somewhat awkward moment.

Duck tape should only be used in the event of a nuclear catastrophe, in conjunction with rolled plastic material. To find directions for use, please see the FEMA website.

No matter what the mothers (real reasons) were for duct taping her child's head; what she did was wrong.

She needs to held accountable for her actions.

Really... duct taping someones head is not funny and I believe it is no joke.

I am a mother and a grandmother and I have never seen anyone
"play" this way with their children with the exception of tot mom.
I don't find anything funny or amusing in duct taping childrens' heads.
The father was right for contacting the police, his child was in danger.

Maybe you are correct. The child does however appear to be smiling in the photo.

If it was a harmless prank, the police have over reacted.

Children don't know any better and it's the adult who is held
accountable.

This is over the top. She could have ( innocently even) hurt the kids.
Luckily everyone was okay, and hopefully learned from this experience.
I only hope that she doesn't lose her boy over it.

But, yeah, she should have known better.

SO - how did she get the tape OFF of the two children without hurting them?
Duct tape will definitely pull your hair out - maybe even take some skin off if it's left on for a while.
I think the dad and the authorities were right on in this case

Funny thing is about this is I live in Sandusky where this happened and it is not big news here at all. I read about it days after it happened in the UK daily mail web site.
