Impressive looking Solar Activity!

But looks can be deceiving!

For the record, solar activity is quite low right now. However, that does not mean the Sun can't look pretty impressive. I saw these images and thought I would share. With a lower than average Solar Maximum, it has been a while since the Sun was looking so cool.

Currently, only a 25% chance of a M-class flare and 5% for a X-class.

Did you see the "solar ballet" that occurred on Dec. 31?? Pretty neat.. Hopefully the embed code works here...

Isn't it odd that the top and bottom of SOL are calm and peaceful.
Coronal Loops are all over the place in the center.

Time for a magnetic pole reversal for our sun?
