Could there really be any chance of the goverment cancelling the elections if there was some sort of attack? Like if some nut just decided to blow himself up or something would the goverment leech onto this as a terror attack. What scale would be required?

Im not sure that they will be able to cancel it, but on the other hand if there is another attack on american soil, killing more americans, do you think the swing voters are gonna vote for Kerry who's all for building alliances as a way to protect the country, or for GWB the president of war who will find the " responsible country" and bomb the hell out of them for a month until he decides to take over another oil rich country?

If they can hold *)!$@ free elections in Iraq when people are dying there by the bus load every day, they DAMN sure better hold elections on time here in the USA.

And if there is another attack, it should encourage them to vote for Kerry. Bush's whole premise is that he is making our nation safer, and that we haven't had a terrorist attack on his watch since the worst terrorist attack on American soil occurred (coincidentally, also on his watch). If we have some sort of attack here, that goes completely against what he's been trying to get us to buy. The one advantage he is trying to run on, would have been disproven, right before the elections no less. A terrorist attack here in America would deal a severe blow to Bush's re-election hopes.

Bombs away!!!!

Peace is a great idea but when fighting animals who don't understand or want peace,
violence is all they understand.

There's another side of the coin and that is retribution if there is an attack - will the American people then elect someone who would negotiate with the responsible parties of an attack (Kerry) or someone who would blow them off the face of the earth (Bush).

I guess only if it happens would we know for sure.

yep your right it SHOULD persuade them to vote for kerry, but chances are it wont especially this close to the elections when there's no time to calm down, look at the facts. when your emotions are still boiling from the unjust action against your country, theyre gonna want the guy whos gonna bomb their enemy.

I believe that we have several threads that are discussing this very topic:

'fast special elections' :codeword for coup d'etat?

All the vague notions of election terror threats promoted by Homeland Security are just another sign of a corrupt failed administration resorting to fear tactics (like the stupid wolves advertisement) to keep people away from polling places. These useless messages are now not even "color-coded" alerts and they have no intelligence backing whatsoever.

The Bush administration sinks to new lows every day. Justice will be served when the criminals are incarcerated. Treason is too light a charge.
