I just found a 50 yr old letter from my mother (she died in 1973) that she typed and then copied onto typing paper at her job as an on-air content typist at a small town radio station in 1961, and I have no idea where it came from or how it got into the small case containing old poems and song lyrics I wrote during the 70s, 80s and early 90s. I opened it for the first time since 1999, and the letter was sitting on top of everything else in the case. The odd thing is that for years I've been trying to get an unrelated set of letters and a small journal of hers electronically scanned so that I can read them, but they're stranded within a divorce that one of my brothers is having. Other than that set of letters ad writings, I didn't think that anything still existed that my mom wrote. Stranger still is the fact that this case has been buried in the upper storage level of my garage since 2002 - when I moved my stuff out here - and I only took it down the other day after realizing that it had been stuffed back in there as I was searching for other stuff that I knew had to be back there somewhere.

I contacted my brothers and sent them scanned files of this letter and they've got no answers for me. My wife is perplexed and I literally have no idea how I got this two page letter. It's in extremely good condition, and you can even see the indentation where someone wrote down some numbers on a page above the page taken from the typing pad (this is how they sold typing paper at the time) so it's very clear that this paper is not modern paper. The bond of it is very unusual as well. Definitely not modern paper.

There are only two people in the world (my mom's two sisters) that could possibly have ever even seen this letter, and its been at least 20 years since I've seen either of them - and that was at a wedding. She typed it up at age 29, and made a copy of it to mail out the same letter to each of them (with apologies for having done so included within the letter's text). The copier technology was Xerox and it left a telltale smear on it in one of the upper corners. Those early copiers were in most offices by 1960, according to research I've done concerning copier technology history. All signs point to the fact that this is is a 51 yr old Xerox copy of a typed letter, and there's no possible way tat it could have gotten into that small case.

So, I have a mystery, and I just discovered the term "apport" as describing things that simply appear out of mid air. I cant find much at all about such phenomena except that most people think it's bullsh*t. That said, I can't exp;lain how my mom's letter to one of her sisters could have found its way into my personal writing storage case.

Any information about apports would be appreciated.

Apports refers to items that materialize "out of thin air"....like say you've been looking for your car keys, looked everywhere, and then suddenly you see them right out in the open, where you've already looked but did not see them. Also apports refer to items that would materialize during seances...that sort of thing.

As for missing keys, that type of thing, I just call them me being distracted and I didn't notice those keys the first time, like a negative hallucination so to speak.

indeed I have........i have been involved in the paranormal since i was a lil guy........

My grandmother had this incredibly haunted house way out in the country close to Breckenridge texas......

Long dark halways huge dark rooms, you name it this house was creepy......we had many many many many paranormal experiences in this house, from the fridge emptying its contents on the floor after grocery shopping, to the windows deciding to be open or closed on their own, to apparations......they were there for 5 years and finally were driven out.........the next family that lived there lasted 3 months, we saw them at the gas station with all they could stuff in their truck......saying they were never going back to that house because it was evil........apparently my grandparents didnt tell them the experiences we had.......

At any rate......me and my brother one night were fiddling around doing our own lil "investigation " spookfest, we had the normal knocks, shadows, sounds of things moving.......

When out of no where we heard a thunderous bang upstairs........after cowering for a few min and debating to go investigate, we scaled the stairs and opened the door to the second floor room, to find an old door....full door with hinges smack in the middle of the floor.......

Thing is it had the knob in the middle of the door, at the time neither of us had ever seen a door like this before, and they definitely werent any on the house like this, im not even sure they were common in the area.....but it looked to be a very old door........

The next day my grandfather burned it.......

Anyway, other then the odd movings of things and things going missing only to turn up again........

Thats the only real experience I had, it was frightening, but extremely interesting none the less, looking back i wish i would have been mature enough to investigate more , or had a camera........

Hope your search goes well bud

Wow, someone on ATS who knows where Breckinridge Texas is! My in-laws live right near there in Eliasville, which isn't even a town anymore - it's just out in the country.

I wonder if anyone lives in the house you're talking about. I'd love to see it next time I visit the in-laws (which will be on 12/21
)

Okay, I have something to say here, as I have recently had some sort of experience like this. A few days ago, I was looking through my spare room where I keep tools, old books, clothes I don't wear, my old military stuff(need to keep it out of sight), paintball stuff, pellet guns, just a regular ol' guys storage mess. I decided I needed to tidy it up as it's getting rather cluttered these days. I moved some things around, put a shelving unit in and started organizing my things. I moved the dog crates and was satisfied with the new state of my spare room, and on the floor where the previously assembled dog crate was sitting was a 2-2.5 inch in diameter crystal sphere.

I've been baffled by this since I found it, I have no memory of ever purchasing, being given or having such an object in my house. Ever, nor do I know anyone that would have brought it there. More so confusing, why under the dog crate? How did I not notice it when I sat right there on the floor took the dog crate apart and moved things about in the room? It's Green, and has a purple circle on one side. Sort of looks like an eye( just best way to describe the way it looks.) I've kept it on the coffee table since, and my brother came over and was playing with it asked me where I got it, and I said I found it on the floor and have no idea where it came from. He said weird and jokingly said maybe a ghost gave it to me. We both laughed, and I asked if he knew if It had been given to me as a gift or something? He said he couldn't recall. I have no idea where it would have come from, I've only been living at this place for 2 years in February and I would think I'd at least remember having it some point prior to this.

We tried looking it up online, and the closest we could find would be this.

Similar to the bottom one in this picture.
The purple part is very deep purple, and a perfect circle, and the green is quite brilliant. It's a little bigger than a golf ball. Blew my mind, whether it was an " Apport " or found it's way into my suite with out my knowledge I don't know, but I cleaned that room top to bottom, and there was nothing it could have fallen out of, and it was found in the empty space that was occupied previously by a dog kennel I was storing.

This is my story anyhow.

Interesting word NE, just goes to show you learn something new everyday.

This has happened to me about a half dozen times throughout my life, and each time it has its been when I've been thinking along an especially tangential train of thought which has nothing to do with anything that's actually going in in my life or even my immediate situation at the time.

Something has appeared either directly related to my thoughts or as an answer to whatever I was pondering. Unfortunately for me it's never been anything quite as meaningful as what you've found. In fact the objects which have appeared have had no real significance to anything in my life ever.

The most vivid recollection I have was the first time it ever happened. It's actually almost embarrassing but screw it this is an anonymous forum. I was 13 and just hit that stage in my development when I was pretty much perpetually horny. This was in the late 90s prior to the Internet being a household thing so dirty mags were still a teenage boys best friend. I was walking to the shop day dreaming about girls and this image formed in my head of some uber hot blonde. It was quite vivid and I began lamenting not having any dirty mags of my own. Then out of the corner of my eye I see a folded up piece of glossy paper, quite large overall, and just laying there on the side of the road. I picked up and opened it and there was a larger than life play boy centrefold poster of the very girl I has been dreaming about. Needless to say all my xmases seemed to have come at once (no pun intended).

The other times it has happened it has been in situations where I know that particular object could not nor should not have been there yet the commonality they all share is my frame if mind at the time - daydreamy, wandering and not at all focused on anything in particular.

Unfortunately this doesn't provide you with too many answers but maybe something you should consider in your search for answers is your state of mind at the time.

Good luck

I suppose, but they don't go in that room. It's storage, the crates hadn't been used since we moved. I suppose it would be possible though.

A couple of years ago my mother was doing some baking and needed to use a whisk. The whisks are kept in a particular cupboard, in a particular place and weren't there when she looked. She rooted through the other drawers and cupboards and still couldn't find them. Eventually she went out and bought a new pair. Surprise, surprise the missing whisks were later found exactly where they always were.

Another incident at the same house involved me planning to take my dad's car out without asking - I was young and stupid. They'd gone away so I took the keys, unlocked the garage and revved the car a while. Went inside for a shower and when I went to get in the car, found the garage locked and the keys missing. I searched everywhere for the keys and even suspected that an opportunistic thief had taken them as they had car, garage and house keys on the ring.

Eventually, they returned from the hols and I had to tell him I'd lost his keys. He found them in the ignition of the car in the locked garage. How the heck the door locked itself with the keys on the inside is a puzzler.

I've had rings disappear off my hand and then show up hours later on my bed pillow - pretty weird - but this letter thing really takes the cake. It's been an interesting year, and I wish I was able to actually "feel" stuff related to the "supernatural". I'm pretty crippled in that regard, even though I've been practicing meditation for months now and empty my mind fairly well as a result. Nothing pokes in though when I do, so who knows what it is that I'm missing in that sense.

I actually feel really sorry for any discarnate people trying to get me to notice them with some of these little tricks. I'm like a deaf and blind person wearing gloves and an environmental Haz-Mat suit when it comes to spirits. That said, impossible stuff happens around me at a fairly regular rate. Obviously someone's trying their poor *ss off here, and I feel terrible about being so difficult to reach.

Great thread with interesting stories.

I probably experience this more than I realize but I have such a poor memory of where I put things. I am never surprised when I can't find something where I think I put it since it happens all the time.

First post
but I might have something meaningful to add here. The picture you have shown us (and therefore possibly your own sphere) is a semiprecious stone known as rainbow fluorite. It's pretty heavy and, in my experience, unusually cold to the touch.
I used to sell semiprecious stones way back in my uni days, and learned from my mentors that this particular stone represents cleansing, healing, protection/healing of children and of bone diseases. I would also suggest that you would definitely recall buying such a sphere, because of that size, they are not exactly on the inexpensive side. Not super expensive, but definitely worth a chunk of money that you would recall having spent. These stones are often found in or near rivers.

Does any of this ring a bell? I am truly curious.

I find this topic compelling.I also have a poor memory at this point in life, but when you KNOW you left a certain object in a certain spot,it certainly can eat at you.As to OP and others who have experienced materlialzations-sp-, I would be completely freaked out!

So, it's become really obvious as to why this letter suddenly appeared, even if it remains a complete mystery as to where it came from or how it appeared. In recent years, I've been angry at my mom (deceased since 1973) for her lack of aggressive support in defense of my own unrecognized intellectual potential, and the profound impact that lack of support had on my life. Yeah, it's pathetic to blame your parents for anything, and I readily admit to having leaned on that candy-ass blame-crutch in recent years. So, don't bother with the flame posts to that fact. This post is about her and the heroic sh*t she actually did on behalf of my 3 brothers and myself.

She typed this letter - as far as I can tell - in 1960, or so. Feb is the date she typed on the letter, but no year. Still the radio station job - her very first job ever - was in that time period, and before we moved from Little Falls NY to Herkimer NY. In it, she's 29 yrs old (I'm figuring) and saddled with 4 little boys that litter out with no more than 1.5 years between each other - completely and forever dumped by her husband, who moved 3,000 miles to the other coast and never (ever) looked back to see if she and his own 4 sons survived his departure.

This apport - if that's what it is - is clearly her "side of the story", and I'm publicly acknowledging my lack of fairness in how I've treated her memory in my own recent struggles with the relative fairness of life in how my own life has turned out. And I'm apologizing to her with this post for the way I've presented her seeming lack of concern over my own struggles as (what the clinicians now days call) a gifted child, who (for his entire childhood and teen years) remained virtually uncommunicative with a profound stutter (which magically lifted when I closed in on the final years of my 20s).

Here's the apport letter (two photos), and a photo of her that was taken within 7 years of her having written it. By the time the portrait photo was taken, she was a Senior Clerk with the NY State Dept of Transportation, and was the highest salaried professional woman in our village of Herkimer. When she died, there were hundreds of mourners that none of us boys had ever seen before, and her funeral procession received a full police escort with all the trimmings - free of charge.

Here's to her. She was an impressive and independent woman, she never remarried, and she built a future for her boys without the help of anyone during a time when Woman's Liberation was seen by the media and the public at large as nothing more than burning your bra, hating men, and refusing to shave your legs.

You'll note that at the end of her letter, she included a few of the little local news items that she had typed up for the on-air newscasters, which was her job with that radio station (it was WLFX or WLFS - but doesn't exist anymore). I guess she thought they were cute and wanted to share them with her sisters in Albany NY, who - as far as I can tell - were the recipients of this letter and its copies. Clearly, the names were changed here to protect the innocent. Unless the names actually were John Doe and Mary Smith, which I sorta doubt.

So, the mystery of where it came from and how it got here remains, but the why of the apport - again, IF this is an actual apport - has to be her desire to make her case to me that she did the best she could with what she was handed. And I agree. She did.
