Just wondering why all the text on the home page now has a strikethrough? Is this a bug?

nah probably an admin who made a mistake in the coding
and inserted the underline code to the whole mainpage by mistake
i could also be wrong on that .. lets wait for a mod to comment on the issue

Funny how the 2012 topic remains untouched. It's definitely a message sating we should go there.

Explanation: Flagged!

I concur that this is an issue ...

And having investigated a bit I have come to the following conclusions ...

Slayer69's thread ..which is the 1st thread on the home page currently and as shown in my above screen grab is the CAUSE of the issue .. but thats not deliberate on the part of Slayer69 at all.

Their threads OP contains strikethrough bbcode .. and clearly the front page algorythyms grab that text INCLUDING bbcode and posts that... but if it grabs text and fails to grab the closing bit of the bbcode ..that leaves the bbcode OPEN and that affects the rest of the pages display.

Personal Disclosure: I hope this helps admin fix the issue!

Good catch OL, that's exactly what's going on.

Doubt anything can be done until Slayer's thread gets bumped...or his thread edited.

Nice find OL
i think you are right

this issue have happened in some threads before
where people put the underlined bb code in a post
and then it create a bug and the rest of the page get affected
only an admin can fix the issue at the end

Slayer probably planned this from the start !

he knew his thread would be in the hot topic

OmegaLogos, you're one smart cookie.
G'job to Slayer69 for (I'm sure, unintentionally...) breaking the ATS front page.

Muwahahahaha...

Sorry guys
I had no clue it would do that honest.

ETA: Kind of cool though. People even took screen shots and wrote a thread.

Slayer69's thread ..

Yeah.

We should take him out back and slap him around a bit!

Haha good thing it wasn't a marqee tag or something with the ability to move text.. I think they break too easy and have been removed from here anyway.

injecting html code into the front page.. nice hack

So can we use the strikethrough option or not?

There is no button for it when creating a post.

I personally like strikethrough. It is a neat option!

What exactly is the purpose of strike through text? Why not just edit the material instead? I have never understood this. Reddit uses it often and I can never tell if it is the actual originator of the post or someone else. If anyone can explain a bit I would really appreciate it.

From what I have seen it is used as a tool. The writer wants you to see what was written. Like sarcasm I guess.
