Should Millionaires Be Allowed In Congress?

The problem is who is allowed to vote.

If you don't have any skin in the game, you don't vote until you do.

Your sweat and hard work that qualifies you to pay taxes once you've filed at the start of the year means you qualify. The only exceptions are some active duty, public servants who defer any pay for it, some retirees and TRUELY disabled (not just a fattie), some dependants of the income tax payer, and a very few others.

Used to be, for a very short time, only land holders were allowed to vote.

I dont feel that discriminating against a candidate by his or her net worth is the answer...but you are free to vote for any candidate. One could argue that only those who volunteer their time (ergo no salary) should be in office and that would mean that only millionaires would want (or be able) to serve. What we need to stop is those in high elected office from enriching themselves while serving (especially if it is from inside information or connections).

Its also a legal requirement that the money be backed by gold and silver.
