Chess and other on-site games--why or why not?

To be quite honest, this site has enraged me even more than most of the social networking sites I frequent, if only because the stuff that hacks me off here is the exact same stuff we're trying to fight.

But we have a games forum, so why not an entertainment center kinda thing? Who says we can't have fun when we're not learning or discussing? Hell, maybe a bit of chess or Galaga can help to serve as a distraction when we're overloaded, or maybe a little solitaire to slow down and ruminate over an interesting question.

I say go for it, see where it goes!

Hmm...all good answers so far. Thanks for all the opinions. After hearing some good arguments for or against my idea--I can honestly say I'm completely on the fence now haha. Wow, if that isn't the trademark of ATS, I don't know what is!
