Apparently by law, "The President" is obligated to issue quarterly (4 times a year) reports on the stimulus programs.

It seems they are a bit late. like over a year now !!

Aside from that, there is a lot of corruption connected as well.

Jeffrey Anderson at the Weekly Standard reports on another adventure in lawlessness from the Most Transparent Administration in History: the President is legally obligated to issue quarterly reports on the “success” of his “stimulus” program through September 2013… but since both success and stimulus belong in ironic quotes when describing this trillion-dollar boondoggle, Obama quietly stopped issuing the required reports after the second quarter of 2011.

Back when the reports were coming out, they began with boilerplate text boasting of the “stimulus” bill’s beautiful transparency: “As part of the unprecedented accountability and transparency provisions included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) was charged with providing to Congress quarterly reports on the effects of the Recovery Act on overall economic activity, and on employment in particular.” But evidently that “unprecedented accountability and transparency” went out of fashion two years ahead of schedule, in defiance of clear legal requirements......

October 1, 2010.....

The massive economic stimulus package President Obama pushed through Congress last year is coming in on time and under budget - and with strikingly few claims of fraud or abuse - according to a White House report to be released Friday.

Coming barely a month before November's midterm elections, which will determine whether Democrats retain control of Congress, the report challenges public perceptions of the stimulus aid as slow-moving and wasteful - an image that has fueled voter anger with the dominant party. Even some former skeptics who predicted that the money would lead to rampant abuse now acknowledge that the program could serve as a model for improving efficiency in government. ....

November 2009 article....

(Reuters) - The data collection and reporting from those who received money from the $787 billion U.S. stimulus plan is riddled with errors and inaccuracies, according to a federal audit of the report released on Thursday.

Since the report on where stimulus funding went and how many jobs it created or saved was posted at www.recovery.gov on October 30, news organizations have uncovered faulty data entry and misunderstandings that have raised suspicion about the quality of the numbers.

The Government Accountability Office had warned there would likely be mistakes in the mammoth undertaking. Its audit found that, despite training from federal agencies, many recipients were confused about how to count jobs....

June 27, 2012....

Tax cheats were given $1.4 billion in government-backed mortgage loans under President Obama’s economic stimulus, and the government doled out at least an additional $27 million in tax credits to delinquents who took the first-time-homebuyer tax break, according to a government audit released Wednesday.

Under government rules, delinquent taxpayers are supposed to be ineligible for the mortgage insurance program unless they have reached a repayment agreement with the Internal Revenue Service. But the Federal Housing Administration didn’t have the right controls to weed out bad applications, said the Government Accountability Office, Congress‘ chief investigative arm.

That meant FHA insured $1.4 billion in mortgages for 6,327 borrowers who collectively owed $77.6 million in unpaid taxes, or an average of more than $12,000 each......

At least 3,700 recipients of federal stimulus funds owe more than $750 million in federal taxes, according to a new study from the Government Accountability Office. ...........

Riddled with ineptitude and incompetence ?

No wonder the reports have stopped

Too bad nobody can make a citizens arrest on the President. Apparently that is one of the few reasons secret service are still around. Sure to protect him from bad people, too bad they protect him from the people he is supposed to serve also.

Breaking the law is breaking the law. There is no two ways around it.

Why would the administration give his opposition fodder during a period where re-election is more important than governing?

It's like you just don't understand the Obama plan for America dude.

People like you demanding all of this "accountability" just don't live in reality.

The dude is the President. He owes no one an explanation. Let alone a report on a policy that could be used to beat his campaign into the dirt from now until election day.

Come to think of it...I think this makes you racist too....Yep.

Not encouraging that he is breaking laws so blatantly.

Has he been assured that there will be no consequences for his actions by TPTB? Is he so self-assured that this won't be a problem because he is "Obama" and can do whatever he wants in the second term.

Very scary when you think about the flexibility he expects to have in his second term.

Well I guess I must change my thinking now.

How could I be so blind ?

I'm glad I'm awake now.

I now know that Obama is the supreme authority.

I guess the Administration has been too bogged down with genuine issues.

Seems the GOP is on board with the Obama administration, concerning reports of TARP and stimulus.

Of course they are they helped write it. It is a gold plated piece of legislation that will be looked at in history as the only turd to ever be picked up by the clean end.

Right.

I just thought I would add some facts about this not being exclusively an "Obama problem".

It's a US government problem

Right. But this is about the role of the President and the responsibility of his office to issue these reports. A responsibility which he has apparently neglected to fulfill.

The general consensus of ALL in government apparently is that these reports consume too much time and that the American people need not be informed of where their monies go.

Im merely pointing out that the headline is misleading. You cannot call out a single individual or administration for what a congressional majority wants. It just doesn't make sense. To follow the OP would be to get the wrong idea in that ONLY the Obama administration has a problem witht the reports. If Romney is elected there won't be any on time reports either.

I'm well aware.

Don't confuse my opposition to Obama's handling of his office for the approval of Mitt Romney.

I agree.
I also don't like the auto bailout he endorsed and especially the Bank bailout Bush endorsed.

Neither party or administration, current or future wants to issue the reports. The more you have to document, the less leeway you have to make secret maneuvers.
