Ignoring the continual, persistent, warmongering rhetoric from the west, I'd have to say, good for them. The Iranian population does not deserve to suffer, due to the Wests inability to keep their hands clean of innocent blood, as can be seen throughout the rest of the Middle East.

Peace.

I think you may be confused...

The West is threatening Irans nuke program....

Iran is the one threatening ISraels existence...

. North Korea, like Iran, find their military objective more of a priority than their own people.
Well Said.

BUT

There is a country(who shall remain nameless) than spends MORE than the next 20 countries after it CONBINED, and has been doing it for DECADES at the PERIL of its Citizens.

and yet the American people get to choose who they want for their government where the same cannot be said about the other 2 nations in question.

The United States is not taking all of its resources and placing them into a nuclear program to the detriment of the people.

So while I understand the comparison you are trying to make, it fails based on the details.

Yes kinda, they get to choose between , 2 Men who have chosen for them to choose from,
If Goofy was offered up by the Dems and Pluto by the Repubs, we would have a cartoon dog for POTUS , that we CHOSE.

The United States is not taking all of its resources and placing them into a nuclear program to the detriment of the people.
Well , lets be honest, the US has the worlds Largest Economy, so even maintaining the Largest Nuclear Arsenal is a fraction of its Budget, the Rest of the Budget is to fight Wars .

So while I understand the comparison you are trying to make, it fails based on the details.
Yes , the Devil is in the Details, Doesn.t change a the Detriment the US is in, 16Trill and counting....

Sanctioning won't work. Usually doesn't. And Iran is stiff necked. There's no convincing them to turn back. Personally, we either get in bed with them or we remove their ability.

The Supreme Leader makes his position clear:
www.washingtonpost.com -
Khamenei: Iran will back ‘any nations, any groups’ fighting Israel...

..........
“From now onward, we will support and help any nations, any groups fighting against the Zionist regime across the world, and we are not afraid of declaring this,” Khamenei said during a rare Friday prayer lecture at Tehran University.

“The Zionist regime is a true cancer tumor on this region that should be cut off,” the supreme leader said. “And it definitely will be cut off.”
.........
He suggested that Iran’s support for the Palestinian militant group Hamas and for Lebanon’s Hezbollah had helped lead to victory in their battles with “the Zionist state,” as Israel is officially called here.

“We got involved in the anti-Israeli issues, which resulted in victory in the 33-day and 22-day wars,” Khamenei said, referring to Israel’s 2006 war with Lebanon and its incursion into the Gaza Strip in late 2008.
.........

I'm certain that Obama is getting into his pajamas and looking forward to a bedtime story. This is one of hte multitude of reasons that Obama is bad for this country and bad for the world.

Sanctions are one technique larger nations can easily employ to leverage smaller nations into complying with a request. Like how parents use pocket money to get their kids to do chores is the general approach. For minor requests sanctions can be very effective, but when it comes to issues of national security and survival the effectiveness does wane. Kids will do their washing up for a few dollars, but not take a beating for it.

What sanctions do is send a message, not as forceful as a military invasion but does escalate and can lead to such situations. It is unfortunate that children and the poor are the main victims when sanctions are used and resources decline. Sanctions work with such a situation by building the fear of attack, they do not work by building an expectation of attack. In the case of Iran it may buy some time, but it does increase their independence.

As the economic assault continues it will lead to the further destabilizing of the state. Since such attacks do take time it could lead to a complete balls up if the weapons come online as the state collapses with rouge forces taking control. National stability is an important aspect of all nations seeking nuclear ambitions, something that should seriously be considered with the persistence and determination shown by Iran.

Your kidding right ?!! We get to choose between 2 who they have chosen... and implement rule changes to keep delegates at the convention from being heard (Ron Paul) and they keep 3rd parties from joining the debates. Doesn't sound like Freedom of Choice to me.
