Sad story... happened not far from where i used to live, and i know the town involved very well, used to take my kids to the leisure centre where this fella worked.

they've not found a body, but he's now been charged with murder.

my own experience of that police force isn't a great one so i wouldn't be too surprised if they'd been less than thorough.

I just dont understand how a person can be charged with murder when no body has been found. I know its been done before but so soon after she turned up missing, shes only been missing a week.

The police don't always release all the information and evidence they have to the public.

There are several things that can lead to a charge of murder and a conviction without a body.

1 - A history of similar and/or related crimes and a connection to the current victim.

2 - DNA evidence such as blood of the victim found on the perp's clothing, a knife, home, car or similar locations and/or fibers from the victims clothing or other "transfer" evidence found on or in the perp's property.

3 - Personal items of the victim's found in possession of the perp, especially if they are stained with the victim's blood.

4 - A confession or incriminating statement made to the police.

5 - Closed circuit TV monitoring video of the perp showing incriminating evidence such as being where the victim disappeared from at the time of the disappeared, Actually with the victim or similar incriminating activity "caught on camera".
