MSM Programming: Obamacare Collusion

Major Points:

Major network tv shows like Grey's Anatomy and Modern Family will be asked by Ogilvy, a global marketing powerhouse acting on behalf of the California state government, to weave Obamacare into its plots.

Federal funds will be used by California to setup its Obamacare exchange which hired Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide.

Other plans include pitching a new reality tv show depicting families without medical health care coverage.

The California Endowment, a foundation that has already spent $15 million in promoting the law, ran tv and newspaper ads which includes Dr. Mehmet Oz saying,"get educated, get engaged, get enrolled."

Excerpt:

Goodnough added "The exchange itself has so far been financed by three grants, worth $237 million, from the federal government. Most of the money is committed to consultants, including Accenture, which has a $327 million contract to build and support the initial operation of the enrollment portal."

Well because most cable subscribers use their network programming as gospel...
This doesn't surprise me at all.

What better way to promote an agenda than by using the same tool that corporations use to sell their products, or the same tool big pharma uses to peddle their drugs, or the mindless entertainment that spews from it?

Kinda ingenius isn't it?

It's ashame really but it will work.
That is exactly what this nation has turned into.

Yes, we are all on the government's conveyor belt. And not all of us will come out of the belt with a desired result.

They can't sell it on it's merits (there are none) so they have to resort to underhanded tactics.

*A White House Discussion*

Obama: "People still aren't convinced that hitting their heads with a ball peen hammer is good for them!"

Lackey: "Hey! I know! Let's weave hitting your head with a ball peen hammer as a benefit into some tv shows! We can even create a new show! "Braining Yourself to Health"!!"

Obama: "I like it! As a reward, you can now be a czar. Want a Fresca, champ?"

Republicans blast California's move to hype healthcare law on TV shows
By Elise Viebeck

Republican lawmakers want to know why California hired a PR firm to promote the Affordable Care Act law on popular television shows such as "Modern Family" and "The Biggest Loser."

The Golden State made headlines when its insurance exchange — created by the healthcare law — hired Ogilvy Public Relations to pitch TV shows on story lines involving President Obama's signature law.

On Friday, Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) pushed the Obama administration on whether the $900,000 Ogilvy contract is the right use of taxpayer dollars.

"Americans' hard-earned money should not be taken by government to subsidize Hollywood and insert propaganda into the popular culture," the lawmakers wrote. "It should be going toward ensuring the cost of healthcare is being lowered for all Americans."

Grassley and Upton, who lead the House Energy and Commerce Committee, called on the Health and Human Services Department (HHS) to improve its oversight of grants to states related to healthcare reform.

The Affordable Care Act "is virtually silent on how the funds are to be used and grants HHS unrestricted access to taxpayer dollars to fund these grants," Grassley and Upton wrote. "Furthermore, HHS has failed to provide substantive guidance to states on how the money is to be used."

The letter calls on HHS to track how states use their grants, and to release a list of all contracts exchanges have initiated.

California's Ogilvy contract is part of a marketing plan adopted by the state insurance exchange.

The plan says "individuals from California’s robust entertainment industry will be approached at the most senior levels" to promote the new marketplace and get people enrolled.

Among the shows listed as contenders to promote the health law are "Grey's Anatomy," "Modern Family," "The Biggest Loser" and "Dr. Oz."

The plan also mentions the possibility of a reality show about the healthcare law.
