And limiting the outrage to nuclear energy power generation is disingenuous and emotionally/intellectually lazy...and that is more wrong. Piling a wrong on top of a wrong does not build a right.

Honestly, the conversation over nuclear power is getting ridiculous.

People are going to get sick and die regardless of what we do.

Logic dictates that if we stay the course - we are going to be handling a different type of radioactive waste disaster in the form of fly ash and soot emissions/waste from coal power plants (which release more uranium in the form of waste each year than is used in all of the world's nuclear power plants, combined). We're also going to be putting up with the chemical pollutants coal comes with.

If we try to replace it with alternative sources - we're going to be living in the shade of solar farms and birds will be virtually made extinct by all the wind turbines. Not to mention electricity will become a prized commodity worth several times what it is, now, because of the massive amounts of man-power that would be required to maintain, literally, millions of square miles of solar reflectors and/or photovoltaic cells and countless millions of wind turbines.

And if we build nuclear power plants - logic dictates that more power plants increases the likelihood that some kind of accident will happen, somewhere. And while people have an exaggerated fear of radioactive compounds (you've been inhaling them and living alongside them for millions of years); the public outcry over such incidents is obnoxious enough to instill a desire to not have them happen.

So, you idiots with the loud voices need to pick one and roll with it. I'm going to watch some of you die, anyway - let's just get our story straight on how you're going to do it and how much I'm going to have to pay for electricity while doing so.
