Aleppo, Syria (CNN) -- Syrian rebels said Monday they shot down a military jet, an assertion denied by the government, which blamed the crash on a "technical failure." "The searching process for the pilot is still ongoing," a military source told state television.

"A MiG warplane shot down in Mouhassen!" says an excited man off-camera, citing a location in Deir Ezzor northeast of the capital city of Damascus. "God is great!"

IMO, if a jet crashes and you cannot find the pilot via tracking, how the hell do you know it was a technical failure and not a rocket or bullet? lol.

This will only embolden the crack-down.

Even the video with the rebels and the captured pilot is a bit suss. The pilot seems in pretty good nick considering he just got shot out of the sky. The media reporting for once even pointed out that the video could possibly be nothing more than propaganda.

Ur right and Reuters themselves stated they could not independently verify the video.

Well, this rings true for me, as the Syrian rebels have just taken hold of their first batch of Stinger missiles.

www.debka.com...

Debka is also reporting the rebels now have T-61 tanks. Yes, i know its Debka, but if this is true, it would explain how they were able to down a jet.
