In less that 3 years over 50'000 people have been killed in violence and hatred in one Nigerian state. A new goverment study has shown that the number is very much higher than previously thought and a deeper investigation is needed. The violence is mostly between Christian farmers and Muslim animal herders in the Central Plateau state.

The new study, carried out by government officials who toured the state speaking to victims' families, says that 53,787 were killed between 7 September 2001 and 18 May 2004.

Of these, 17,459 were children, 17,397 were women and 18,931 were men.

It had been estimated that some 10,000 people had been killed in clashes between rival ethnic and religious groups across Nigeria since 1999.

What is it with politics these days? Does it take mass murder and deaths for them to notice anything that is going on in this world?

The Nigerian goverment only took notice in May when they suspended the State Governor who couldnt control the situation or put an end to it.

The goverments of these places really need to have a 'field trip' and see what is going on outside there comfortable offices, all the deaths and troubles they dont have to deal with should be landed on their laps and see how they feel later that day when they have people screaming and crying out for help still ringing in there ears.
